On August 15, 2026, at approximately 00:49, Ofc. Chandler (48) and I were dispatched to [REDACTED] in reference to a 911 open line wherein Gordon County 911 stated they could hear a female and male yelling in the background. Gordon County 911 attempted to make contact again but could not reach anyone. Ofc. Chandler arrived on scene first, and I arrived approximately 20-30 seconds later.

When I arrived, I observed a Hispanic male that was wearing a red t-shirt and blue sweatpants. I identified the male as [REDACTED BY AGENCY] (victim). I immediately noticed scratch marks on the left side of Mr. [REDACTED]’s neck. I asked Mr. [REDACTED] what happened, and he replied, “my girlfriend got a little crazy”. I asked Mr. [REDACTED] what happened in the residence? Mr. [REDACTED] stated he and his girlfriend, Monica Gurrusquieta (offender), were having a good night and they were drinking “Buzz Balls”.

Mr. [REDACTED] stated that he and Ms. Gurrusquieta were dancing in the living room, drinking “Buzz Balls”, and both probably had a little too much alcohol. Mr. [REDACTED] stated Ms. Gurrusquieta attended a funeral of a friend’s mother on August 14, 2026. Mr. [REDACTED] stated he thought drinking would help Ms. Gurrusquieta to relax. After they finished dancing, Mr. [REDACTED] went to take a shower, and Ms. Gurrusquieta went in the bathroom with him.

Mr. [REDACTED] stated that Ms. Gurrusquieta began making comments about how her friend should have treated the deceased mother better. Mr. [REDACTED] stated he told Ms. Gurrusquieta, “You can’t say sh*t about the way she treated her mother when you treat your own mother like sh*t”. Mr. [REDACTED] said he was putting his clothes on when Ms. Gurrusquieta started slapping and scratching him because she was angry that he made the comment regarding her mother.

Mr. [REDACTED] stated he yelled for [REDACTED BY AGENCY] [REDACTED] (son/victim) to record the incident so he could protect himself. Mr. [REDACTED] stated he held Ms. Gurrusquieta down by her arms to stop her from hitting, scratching, and biting him. Mr. [REDACTED] did have scratches on the left side of his neck and visible bite marks on the inside of his left thigh, and right elbow. I then went inside the residence where Ofc. Chandler was speaking with Ms. Gurrusquieta. I observed Ms. Gurrusquieta had a swollen lip on the left side of her mouth with some blood on her lip.

I asked her what happened to her lip and Ms. Gurrusquieta stated she did not know what happened to her lip. Ms. Gurrusquieta stated she did get upset with Mr. [REDACTED] and because she was drinking alcohol, she did not know how the altercation started. Ms. Gurrusquieta stated she does not normally drink alcoholic beverages; however, she did remember getting angry with Mr. [REDACTED] for the comments he made about the way she treated her mother. Ms. Gurrusquieta did not recall how or when the incident became physical.

I then spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] [REDACTED] (victim). [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that he was in the living room watching television when he heard yelling, screaming, and what he believed to be a physical altercation between Mr. [REDACTED] and Ms. Gurrusquieta coming from the bathroom in the master bedroom. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised prior to the altercation, Mr. [REDACTED] and Ms. Gurrusquieta were in the living room with him, having “Buzz Ball” drinks, dancing, and having a good time. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Mr. [REDACTED] went to get in the shower and Ms. Gurrusquieta followed.

It was then that he heard the altercation and Ms. Gurrusquieta yelled for him. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated he was scared and when he was going to break it up, Mr. [REDACTED] told him to record with his phone. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated he went to the bedroom door and observed Mr. [REDACTED] holding Ms. Gurrusquieta down on the bed. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated he did not have a visible video, but he did have the audio.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that when he was recording, both parties stopped for a moment and then started arguing once again. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] got in between both parties and told them he did not want to be involved and he was leaving. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated he started packing his clothes to go to his mother’s house in Dalton and that is when law enforcement arrived.

After gathering the statements of all involved, I spoke with Ofc. Chandler and Ofc. Weesner regarding the predominant aggressor in the incident. We all agreed that based on the testimony of Mr. [REDACTED], the physical marks that were present on Mr. [REDACTED]’s person, and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] statement that Ms. Gurrusquieta was the predominant aggressor. I then placed Ms. Gurrusquieta under arrest for Battery FVA (O.C.G.A. 16-5-23.1) and Cruelty to Children 3rd Degree (O.C.G.A. 16-5-70). I transported Ms. Gurrusquieta to the Gordon County Jail and released her into Gordon County Jail custody.

Prior to transporting Ms. Gurrusquieta to jail, I took pictures of the injuries on Mr. [REDACTED]’s person I also took a picture of Mr. Gurrusquieta’s lip while at the Gordon County Jail. The pictures are attached to this report. I also obtained written statements provided by [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] [REDACTED], and attached the same to this report. Finally, a copy of the committal form and notification of release form is attached to this report. Warrants will be sought.
