On Thursday August 28, 2025 at approximately 0500 hours I Officer A.S. Carnes with the Calhoun Police Department was on routine patrol in the area of 703 Oothcalooga Street in Calhoun, Gordon County, Georgia.

While on patrol I noticed two white males standing at the corner of the Citgo located at 703 Oothcalooga Street, a closed business that did open until 6 am. I passed by the business and turned around to go make contact with the subjects. As I arrived back at the Citgo both subjects were no longer on scene. I told Gordon E-911 that I would be out at the Citgo searching for the subjects and called for Off. Orellana to come help me search for the subjects.

Once Off. Orellana was on scene we heard the subjects moving through the woods between the Citgo and Powell Street. Orellana and I began walking into the woods and told the subjects to stop and said that we were the police department, both subjects ignored out commands and kept walking through the woods towards Powell Street. I began running towards Powell Street to cut the subjects off with Off. Orellana.

Once on Powell Street I seen one subject, James Hollingsworth running towards Oothcalooga Street with Officer Orellana behind him. I told Gordon E-911 that we were in a foot pursuit. James ran into the yard of [100 BLOCK] Powell Street and got into a fighting stance between Off. Ayala and Off. Orellana. I then heard a taser be deployed and saw James continue to run around a truck.

Once there I heard another taser be deployed and James fell to the ground. Once on the ground I grabbed James’ left arm and placed it behind his back and then placed both of his hands into handcuffs. After James was placed into handcuffs the second subject, Orville Clayton emerged from the woods with his hands in the air. I ran over to him and placed him into handcuffs as well.

I then searched James, incident to arrest and located two folding knives, located in his front right pants pocket. One of the knives I noticed was not closed all the way. I then relocated to Orville and read him his Miranda Warning. I asked Orville what they were doing at the store and he said that they were waiting for the store to open up. Orville also said that James was the one with the book bag. Officer returned to the woods to try and locate the bookbag but were unable to locate it.

Orville and James were transported to the Gordon County Jail by Off Baucom. James was treated and refused treatment by Advent Health EMS.

I took out state warrants on James for Aggravated Assault on Leo, Obstruction, and loitering and prowling.

I took out one state warrant on Orville for Loitering and prowling.
