On 07/10/2022, officers with Gwinnett County West Precinct responded to a person shot call at the QuikTrip gas station, located 5255 Peachtree Parkway. Upon arrival, officers located a black male laying on the ground in the parking lot who had been shot once in the head. I arrived on scene and was informed by Gwinnett County fire personnel that the victim, [VICTIM #1], was deceased.

Upon my arrival, I had officers identify potential witnesses while I attempted to look on flock for what we believed was the suspect vehicle at the time. I also sent an evidence.com link to [WITNESS #1], who had taken a picture of the suspect car fleeing the parking lot. Upon receiving the picture, it as discovered that the suspect vehicle was a black Mercedes Benz passenger car. I continued to search flock for potential vehicle matches until surveillance footage was made available inside the gas station.

I spoke to [WITNESS #2] who arrived after the shooting and allowed us access to the video footage. I reviewed the footage and observed the following. At 12:34, the suspect vehicle enters the parking lot from the Peachtree Corners Circle entrance and pulls into the gas pumps. The victim had already parked his vehicle at the air pump and had begun filling his drivers side tires with air.

At 12:36, the suspect vehicle pulls away from the gas pumps and pulls around to where the victims vehicle is parked. The suspect vehicle then backs into the parking spot directly next to victims vehicle. Suspect 1 exits the rear drivers side passenger seat of the suspect vehicle and enters the drivers seat of the victims and attempts to back the vehicle out of the parking space. The victims vehicle is inadvertently blocked in by [REDACTED] who had been trying to park in an adjacent parking space.

At 12:37, the suspect vehicle begins to pull away but stops once they realize the victims vehicle had been blocked. At the same time, the victim jumps into the passenger side of his vehicle and begins to fight with suspect 1. Suspect 2 exits the front passenger seat of the suspect vehicle and runs to help suspect 1. Suspect 2 can be seen holding something in his right hand as he runs to the victims vehicle but it is unclear what he is holding.

When suspect 2 runs around to the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle, the victim and suspect 1 are seen falling out of the drivers door of the victims car. Suspect 1 is able to free himself and get back to his feet. The victim attempts to stand up but is shot by suspect 1 and falls to the ground.

At 12:38, suspect 2 runs back to the front seat of the suspect vehicle while suspect 1 goes back into the victims car. Suspect 1 can be seen grabbing two items from the ground and something out of the victims car before running back to the suspect vehicle, getting in and fleeing the parking lot. The suspect vehicle is last seen heading southbound on Peachtree Parkway at a high rate of speed.

I obtained a copy of the footage on a compact disc and turned the footage over to detectives who had arrived on scene by that time. All listed witnesses filled out witness statement forms on scene and spoke to detectives before being released. I collected all witness statement forms on scene and turned them over to detectives.

After reviewing the security footage of the victims car, I was able to determine the suspect vehicle appears to be a Mercedes Benz e-class sedan with heavily tinted window and a blue and white license plate. Suspect 2 is seen on video as a black male, approximately six foot tall. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a white and red pattern on it, a pair of blue or black pants and white shoes.

Suspect 1 is seen on video as a light skinned male, approximately six feet tall wearing a black hooded sweatshirt white pants and black shoes. Suspect 1 is also seen on video running back to the suspect vehicle, carrying a black handgun. The victims vehicle was impounded to headquarters by Willards wrecker service. I released all statements and video footage to detectives on scene.
