On 6/9/2026 at 1445 hours, I Deputy Sless was dispatched and responded code one to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] road Alto Georgia in reference to a physical domestic. While in route dispatch did advise that both parties were separated.
Upon my arrival I spoke with Austin Blackburn who I could see had a visible cut on above his right eyebrow bleeding. I asked Austin what had happened and he stated that his girlfriend and mother to his child [REDACTED BY AGENCY] began thrashing her arms everywhere acting out. Austin said he then grabbed her in the attempt to calm her down, but during the struggle [REDACTED BY AGENCY] hit Austin in the head with a curling iron. Austin said after that he let her go and she walked upstairs and told his father what had happened.
I spoke [REDACTED BY AGENCY] with who stated Austin came back from the store upset that he was not going on vacation to the beach with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said Austin began yelling at her and grabbed her holding her up against the wall. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised once Austin finally let her go he locked the bedroom door standing in front of the door saying [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was not going to go upstairs to tell his dad. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Austin began hitting himself in the head with his right hand balled up in a fist. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said once Austin started bleeding from his head she was able to get out and tell Austin’s dad about what had happened.
I proceeded downstairs looking in the bedroom and bathroom looking for the weapon that struck Austin. I was unable to find such a weapon and proceeded to ask Austin what had happened again. Austin stated [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was yelling and throwing her arms around so he decided to hold her to calm down. Austin said while holding her both [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and himself fell on the bed and fell against the wall. While listening to Austin I noticed scratch marks on Austin’s arms and redness on Austin’s right hand knuckles. I asked Austin again what happened and he stated he hit his head on the side of the bed. I explained to Austin that his story was not making sense and the fact that the story had changed.
I Explained to Austin he was being placed under arrest for Battery (FVA) and Cruelty to children third degree. I placed Austin in handcuffs checking for fit and double locking them. I searched Austin incident to arrest and placed him in the backseat of my patrol vehicle securing him with seatbelts. I proceeded to take photos of both [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and Austin’s injuries. I transported Austin to Habersham County Jail. Austin was handed over to jail staff without incident. I contacted Magistrate Judge Dempsey and obtained warrants for Austin.
