[NARRATIVE #1 on June 19, 2026]
On 06/19/2026 I, Deputy Askey with the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the area of SR 365 North bound. While traveling North Bound a silver passenger car was ahead of my location in the right hand lane. The driver of the vehicle swerved to the right appearing to fail to maintain its lane of travel. Due to the drivers actions I followed the motorist for a few more moments in which the driver failed to maintain its lane of travel by crossing over the lines on the right side of the roadway. Due to the moving violations (GA Code 40-6-48) I conducted a traffic stop on the motorist near the Hayes Dealership.
I approached the vehicle (Chev Cruze) from the passenger side and spoke with the driver. I explained to the driver the reasoning for the stop. Driver was identified as Kathy Jordan, Jordan stated she had an issue with her tire and the vehicle does this when it rains. While speaking with Kathy there was a butane lighter by her right leg and multiple packs of cigarettes in the vehicle. I asked Kathy were she was going, she informed me she was going to the BP to get some meds. Due to the moving violations Deputy Holcomb responded to the scene to speak with Kathy and conduct Standard Field Soberity.
Due to the butane lighter, driving actions, going to the BP to purchase medicine I utilized my partner Baco to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle. (See pack track for further detail). The BP is a known high crime area consisting of drug activity.

[NARRATIVE #2 on June 19, 2026]
On June 19, 2026 at approximately 0217 hours a Deputy Holcomb was called to a traffic stop conducted by Deputy Askey for a possible intoxicated driver.
Upon my arrival, I was advised by Askey he had stopped the vehicle for failure to maintain lane and driving off the roadway with its right side tires. I made contact with the driver identified as Kathy Jordan. I observed Kathy to be lethargic and pale skinned. I observed her having cigarette ashes all over her lap. I observed her having constricted pupils even in the darkness of the night. I observed her eyes being bloodshot and watery. As Kathy spoke with me, she slurred her words having a hard time connecting sentences. I asked Kathy to exit the vehicle to which she complied slowly and methodically.
I asked Kathy to walk to the front bumper of my patrol vehicle. Kathy did this very slowly and with an obvious sway from front to back. Kathy was forced to use the push bumper of my patrol vehicle for stability as she stood. Kathy stated she had left a residence and was being followed by someone to the BP gas station. Kathy stated she had an upset stomach and was trying to retrieve medication.
Kathy consented to performing some field sobriety evaluations. During the horizontal gaze and nystagmus evaluation, I observed lack of smooth pursuit in both eyes. I observed distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation in both eyes. Kathy then had a hard time following my stimulus. Kathy would stop following it and look off into space. Kathy stated she had some issues with her foot and was unable to complete any other field sobriety evaluations. During the modified Romberg Kathy estimate estimated 23 actual seconds to be 30 seconds. I observed eyelid trimmers.
Kathy admitted to consuming her medication’s. She stated she took an antidepressant. She also stated she took gabapentin and she then admitted to using Kratom.
I placed Kathy under arrest for DUI. She was handcuffed behind her back. Cuffs were checked for fit and double locked. She was searched incident to arrest, revealing no contraband. She was read her implied consent notice for suspects age 21 or over where the state requested a sample of her blood. After some discussions about an attorney, she stated she would not answer yes or no without her attorney being present. She was seated into the rear seat of my patrol vehicle. List Wrecker Hulsey’s towing was called to remove her vehicle.
I transported Kathy to the Habersham County Sheriffs Office. While in route, Kathy stated she had something on her and that it was on her because someone told her to have it on her. Kathy stated it was methamphetamine. Upon arrival at the Sheriffs Office office, Kathy was turned over to detention staff. Detention staff scanned her using the x-ray machine. Detention staff searched her. Detention staff advised me that they were unable to remove what they felt was inside her vagi*al cavity.
I placed her back in the handcuffs behind her back and back into the rear seat of my patrol vehicle. She was transported to the Habersham County Medical Center. I walked Kathy the end of the lobby, where the doctor on duty walked into the waiting room to speak with Kathy. Kathy adamantly refused any treatment or to allow any doctor or medical personnel to search her. She was taken back to the Sheriffs Office in the rear seat of my patrol vehicle. She was turned over to detention staff without incident.
Kathy was issued citations for failure to maintain lane as well as driving under the influence. As of report time, no contraband was located.
