On Tuesday July 8th, 2025 while on duty with the Baldwin Police Department, I, Cpl. John Groves was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] Laredo Dr. Baldwin, Georgia 30511 in reference to a physical domestic in progress. Due to be busy on another arrest, I requested Cornelia Police respond mutual aid to the scene.

Upon being en-route other officers were on scene and the emergency was reduced, therefor I responded code one to the scene. Upon my arrival I spoke with officers on scene, did not receive the amount of information I desired and began questioning the individuals on scene. I spoke with Dorian Clemmons standing outside of the apartment, he stated that his brother, Orlando and him had gotten into a physical altercation and slapped and hit each other in the head and face, he stated that it all started over some food. I continued speaking with him and asked about the firearm that was mentioned in the call notes, he stated he had gotten it but that it was his brothers gun. The firearm in question was recovered by a deputy on scene and later secured into evidence with the Baldwin Police Department.

I then spoke with Orlando, who corroborated the fact that they had been in a physical altercation, stating he had hit Dorian, and that he had been hit by Dorian. I asked about the firearm, he stated that Dorian had retrieved the firearm and had it down by his side, and told Orlando as Orlando was exiting the front door that if he comes back inside he was going to end him. Orlando stated that he was leaving, and it was evident that he was packing his belongings and placing them inside of a vehicle outside the front of the apartment.

After speaking with both parties, I determined that both Orlando and Dorian would be placed under arrest for FVA (Family Violence Act) related charges. I returned to my patrol vehicle where I retrieved four sets of handcuffs and walked back to where Dorian and Orlando was located, due to their large stature and size I placed two sets of handcuffs, connected in the middle on the subjects to reduce strain. Both subjects were handcuffed, checking for fit and double locked. Both subjects were then transported by Officer Ivester and Cornelia Police to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office where they were turned over to jail staff without incident.

Warrants will be applied for.
