On 01/22/2026 approximately 1836 hours, I Deputy J. Coffey responded to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in reference to a Man with a Gun threatening to commit suicide. Habersham County Dispatch advised that there was a female on the phone “Later identified as [REDACTED BY AGENCY]” with them that called 911 stating that her husband Robert Jones has a gun to his head, screaming at her, and is making threats to commit suicide.

Upon my arrival, along with several Habersham Deputies, contact was made with Robert over the patrol vehicle loud speaker with commands top put the weapon down, and to come outside with his hands raised. Robert did follow instructions at which he was then Detained, placed in handcuffs behind his back, and escorted to my patrol vehicle.

At this time, I secured the gun, a Smith & Wesson 357 Magnum 5 shot revolver along with Deputy Holden, and placed it into and evidence bag after taking pictures of it laying on a side table to the right side of the living room as you entered through the front door.

Deputy Holden then spoke with Robert regarding the incident “See Deputy Holden’s supplemental Narrative”, while I spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that her husband Robert came home around 1800 hours from work, and made himself something to eat, took the garbage outside, and the 3 dogs. When Robert came back in the house, he went to the kitchen and heated up some beans then went into the den to sit down and eat.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that she was in the den in her chair at this time and Robert mentioned needing to pay $500 on a utility bill due. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] then told Robert that she did not have it because she spent $1,000 out of her $1,500 social security check towards a truck she was trying to buy, which come to find out later that it was a scammer who took her money.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] then stated that Robert became extremely upset, and started screaming and cursing at her and calling her names, telling her how stupid she was and calling her every name in the book, and had completely lost control of himself in an outrage. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] then stated that he walked down the hallway screaming and still cursing at her and then returned into the den with a silver pistol in his hand. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that he was threatening to kill himself and kept putting the gun to his head.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] also stated that while Robert was doing this he also pointed the gun at her and said “We’re both Dying tonight!” and continued to call her names and make statements that he would rather kill himself then be married to her.

After Robert pointed the gun at [REDACTED BY AGENCY], she stated that she was in shock and feared for her life, and was in fear he was going to shoot her then himself. She also stated that in the past, she did have her ex shoot himself in front of her and she has been extremely afraid of guns, and feared Robert would actually do it.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that she then grabbed her phone and dialed 911, at which Robert heard her talking to 911 and left the room. It was at this time the 911 Operator instructed [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to go outside away from Robert if possible and wait for Law Enforcement to arrive, at which she did.

I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to fill out a witness statement at which she did, and also provided her with a Domestic Violence Victims packet with information to assist her. While [REDACTED BY AGENCY] filled out the witness statement, she was very concerned about Robert coming back home and getting another gun and wanting to kill her.

I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] how many more guns Robert had, and she believed he had 3 guns and she wanted them out of the house. I advised [REDACTED BY AGENCY] that Robert will be going to jail for Aggravated Assault under Family Violence with a gun, and that there would be Bond conditions set upon his bail, ordering Robert to not be at their house, and to make no contact with her.

I then went outside to speak with Robert. Once I made contact with Robert, Deputy Holden advised me that he had read Robert his rights and Robert agreed to speak about the incident. We asked Robert if he had anymore firearms in the house, and he stated yes, he has 2 more pistols in his closet in a plastic black gun case in his closet which has a .22 caliber pistol, and a 9mm semi automatic pistol in the case. I then explained to Robert, that based on my investigation on scene, that he was now being placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault (FVA) “OCGA 16-5-21(i)”.

I also explained to Robert that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] requested for the guns to be removed from their residence, and that with the Aggravated Assault (FVA) charge he could not keep his firearms until a judge clears him to have them back and they were going to be placed into safe keeping at the Habersham Sheriff Office until a disposition of his case allows them to be returned to him, and the Smith and Wesson 357 Magnum revolver he used in the crime tonight was being placed into evidence. Robert understood and agreed.

I secured the gun case out of the closet in Roberts room where he stated that he had them. The case contained a Ruger 9mm Semi Auto Pistol, and a Match shooting .22 caliber pistol, along with several rounds of ammunition.

I then transported Robert to the Habersham County Detention Center, where he was turned over to the detention staff with no further incident. A check of my rear seat was conducted at which no contraband was found, and all evidence and property was logged, labeled and placed into the proper evidence lockers #3, and #14.

An Intent to Charge form was also filled out Charging Robert with Aggravated Assault (FVA) “OCGA 16-5-21(i) and will be obtaining a signed Warrant from the Judge the following day.
