[NARRATIVE #1 on April 29, 2025]

On 4/29/2025 at approximately 23:50, I, Ofc. Lauren Schoenholz, arrived code 3 to [100 BLOCK] Sunshine Circle in reference to a physical domestic.

Upon arrival, I knocked on the front door of the residence. The door was opened, and a female retreated to the back of the residence. I then entered the residence and located Anthony Steven Bass inside the bathroom. He was then detained and brought outside the residence.

I then spoke with the female, identified as [VICTIM #1], located in the back room of the residence, along with her three children [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] She advised me that Bass was her boyfriend and they had been boyfriend/girlfriend since February 2025. [VICTIM #1] stated that Bass was passed out because he was drunk so she let him sleep for awhile. When he woke up, Bass continued to drink more. [VICTIM #1] said he called another girl, which got her upset. [VICTIM #1] stated that is how their argument ensued. He then began to intimidate her by trying to hit his head against her head. [VICTIM #1] said when she was trying to sweep up something, he would walk by and put his knee towards her. She also stated that he would come at her, acting like he had something behind his back.

[VICTIM #1] stated that he used his hand to slam it into her throat, which made her unable to catch her breath. [VICTIM #1] stated that as she was sitting up to check on her son, he grabbed her shirt and pulled her back which caused her to have the red marks on her upper chest.

She informed me that he told her that he was going to call 911 and said that if he was going to jail, then she was as well. She stated that she didn’t have a phone because he had it, so there was no way for her to call 911. He then walked out of the room and acted as if he was on the phone with 911 and told dispatch that his girlfriend had hit him. She then said he ripped his shirt and grabbed a plastic object and began swiping at his chest with it which caused him to have red abrasions on his chest. He then began punching himself in the face. [VICTIM #1] then stated that she went to her daughter and told her to call 911.

When asked if she was in fear for her safety, she told me that he said that when he gets out, he is going to find her.

I took pictures of her chest and neck, which showed visible red marks around her throat and upper chest.

When Ofc. Campbell walked out, she wanted to be out of the view of the doorway so that Bass did not see her. Anytime a door would open or a noise would come in from outside, she would tense up, start shaking and get increasingly nervous. [VICTIM #1] also refused to write a witness statement since she was concerned that since he claimed to be involved in gang activity, it would get back to him that she had written down what happened.

When Ofc. Campbell was speaking with Bass, Bass admitted that the injuries on his chest were self-inflicted. He also admitted that the two of them were coming down from meth.

Bass was transported to the Habersham County Detention Center by Ofc. Cambpell.

On 04/30/25 evening, I made a phone call to DFCS informing them that there was meth use in the household.

[NARRATIVE #2 on April 29, 2025]

On 04/29/2025, Officer Campbell 215 responded code 1 (No lights or sirens) to [100 BLOCK] Sunshine Cir apartments in reference to a verbal domestic. Upon my arrival dispatch then advised me that it was physical.

I went to the front door while Officer Hughs 504 and Deputy Jenkins 138 went to the back door. I then knocked hard on the door and looked through the window where I noticed a female was talking to Officer Hughs and Deputy Jenkins. I knocked again and she opened the door.

I noticed that the female later identified as [VICTIM #1] had opened the door and the immediately walked to the back of the apartment. Officer Hughs, Deputy Jenkins and I then walked into the apartment with our duty pistols out. As we came to the hallway Hughs noticed [VICTIM #1] standing at the end of the hallway just outside of a bedroom door.

As I came closer I then could see [VICTIM #1] standing outside a bedroom door. Hughs then asked [VICTIM #1] what the males name was and where he was and she stated his name was Steven. [VICTIM #1] stated her kids were in the bedroom with her and steven must have ran out.

Hughs and I then began to clear the rooms in the apartment. I went to the left into a closet and bathroom to see if the male identified as Steven Anthony Bass was in there. As I opened the bathroom door I noticed the shower curtain was pulled out enough where someone could be behind it.

I then looked around the curtain and noticed Steven standing behind the curtain in the tub with his hands down by his side hiding. I then stepped back and had my duty weapon pointed at the curtain he was behind. I then advised Steven to show me his hands two times. I then walked in and grabbed the curtain and ripped it away.

Steven then complied with orders to get out of the tub and show us his hands. I then holstered my weapon why Deputy Jenkins kept his taser out while I grabbed Steven and placed him in handcuffs in the rear checking for proper fit and double locking them.

I then walked out of the bathroom with Steven and had Deputy Jenkins take Steven outside. I walked back to the back of the apartment where I noticed [VICTIM #1] and her children in the room, with the youngest boy crying and scared. I asked [VICTIM #1] if she could step outside to speak with me about what had happened tonight.

Officer Schoenholz 219 and I walked outside with [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] was crying and shaking and seemed to be scared. As I was speaking to her Officer Hughs opened the door and [VICTIM #1] then jumped and started shaking again. I asked [VICTIM #1] if she was hurt and she then showed me her upper chest. On her chest I noticed red marks, and small bruising, I also noticed red marks on both sides of her neck. I asked [VICTIM #1] if she wanted to have EMS come check her out and she stated no she had been beat worse then this before. [VICTIM #1] stated Steven was her boyfriend. [VICTIM #1] stated her lip was busted, she stated Steven hit and grabbed her around the neck and grabbed her shirt. She stated she was ok. As I was speaking to [VICTIM #1], Steven yelled from outside at the back door I love you and [VICTIM #1] jumped. [VICTIM #1] stated Steven passed out because he was drunk. [VICTIM #1] stated that when Steven woke up she found out he was talking to another girl in the area they were staying in. [VICTIM #1] stated Steven would get into her face and try to intimidate her by yelling and headbutting her. [VICTIM #1] stated that Steven was hitting himself and that steven told her that he was going to call 911 and she would go to jail to. [VICTIM #1] stated that Steven was using some plastic container to hurt himself.

I asked [VICTIM #1] how old her daughter was and she stated [REDACTED BY AGENCY] her oldest son is [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and the youngest son is [REDACTED BY AGENCY] I then advised [VICTIM #1] that Steven was under arrest as of now for warrants. I then asked [VICTIM #1] if she was in fear and she stated that Steven told her when he gets out he was gong to find her. As she is telling me this, I noticed [VICTIM #1] was shaking again and she started crying.

I advised [VICTIM #1] that I was going to talk to Steven while Officer Schoenholz went to get her phone to take pictures of the red marks on her. As we walked back Into the apartment, I told [VICTIM #1] she was ok and that Steven was not coming back into the apartment again tonight, [VICTIM #1] then asked me if she did wrong by calling why she is still shaking and crying. As I was going out the back door [VICTIM #1] stated she would wait until I go out the door and she hid behind a wall until I shut the door.

I then walked outside and asked Steven what happened tonight and he stated they just argued because she thought he was cheating. I then asked Steven if he had any marks on him and he stated no. I then asked him to stand up and I grabbed his shirt and raised it up in the front where I noticed a lot of red scratch marks all across his stomach and chest. I asked Steven where the marks came from and he stated he did it to himself.

I then asked Stevn where the marks came from on [VICTIM #1] and he hesitated and stated what, I have no idea. He then stated again that he did the marks on himself. I asked him if he gave her the marks that were on her and he stated no. He stated he had no idea how [VICTIM #1] got marks on her. Steven then stated [VICTIM #1] was crazy just like he was and she could have went in there and.

I asked Stevem if he seen [VICTIM #1] give herself marks and he stated no but he has seen her do it before because she has anxiety real bad. Steven stated he hasnt touched her and she hasnt touched him. I then advised Steven that he was under arrest for the warrant and battery family violence. Deputy Holden then advised Steven that his probation violation warrant was for a prior family violence offense. I then walked Steven to my patrol car where he was searched before I placed him the back seat where he was buckled in for his safety during transporting to the jail. I then walked back inside and asked [VICTIM #1] if she would be willing to fill out a statement form and she stated yes. I grabbed a form and advised her what parts needed to be filled out. I grabbed Stevens backpack along with his boots and took them outside.

I then grabbed Circle of Hope information to give to [VICTIM #1] and advised her that if she contacts them they would provide her with resources for family violence victims. [VICTIM #1] stated she couldnt fill out a witness statement form because Steven was part of a gang and she was scared.

I then transported Steven to the Habersham County Jail. On the way to the jail Steven stated that him and [VICTIM #1] were using meth because [VICTIM #1] ran out of her medication and he tried to get her more but couldnt so he went and got meth for them to use.

Steven was turned over to Habersham County Jail staff without further incident. The arrest was turned over to Officer Schoenholz 219. Officer Schoenholz 219 filled out the intent to charge form for Battery FVA, Aggravated Assault, Crulity to children 3rd degree x3.
