On Saturday, March 21, 2026 at approximately 1042hrs I Deputy Jonathan Maney was dispatched to a physical domestic at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Rd, Clarkesville GA. Dispatch advised the caller stated she had a argument with her boyfriend and he put his hands on her. Dispatch advised the caller stated the subject left on foot. I responded in a code one (no emergency equipment activated) status.

Upon my arrival I met with the complainant identified as [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that she had confronted her boyfriend identified as Tristan Jones about a broken tattoo gun. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Jones became irate and ripped her glasses from her face before snapping them.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] then stated she went into the bedroom and was sitting on the bed when Jones grabbed her by the neck with both hands in an attempt to straggle her. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was able to get Jones off her and stated she was calling the police. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Jones said call them Im tired of you bit*hing all the time. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said Jones then gathered some belongings and left on foot.

While I was speaking to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] her oldest [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was holding a lense to the glasses and kept saying daddy broke mommies glasses. I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] if both children were present when the incident took place to which she stated yes. The other child is identified as [REDACTED BY AGENCY].

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated numerous times that Jones had mental health issues and has not been taking his medication. I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] if she could call Jones and find out his location. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] called Jones mother who stated she was unsure of his whereabouts. Jones mother also stated that Jones was off his medication and needed a mental health evaluation.

While I was going over Circle of Hope information with [REDACTED BY AGENCY]; Jones mother called back and stated she got ahold of him. Jones mother stated that when Jones found out the police was involved he made the statement of “Im not going to jail for something I didn’t do. They will either find me dead of have to kill me”. Jones mother stated he was armed with a knife and to please not shoot her son.

After providing [REDACTED BY AGENCY] with Circle of Hope and a case number card I took photos of redness on her neck. I then proceeded to the Dollar General store located at 6477 STHWY 17, Clarkesville GA where Jones works. Myself and Sgt Daniel Seeley checked the Dollar General and was unable to locate Jones. I then rode towards the White County line to look for Jones.

As I was coming back by the Dollar General I observed a subject in the parking lot matching the description of Jones. I made contact with Jones and removed a knife from his front right pocket. I then placed Jones in handcuffs from the rear checking for fit and double locked for safety. I advised Jones he was being detained while I further investigated the incident.

While I was speaking to Jones his mother was on speaker phone stating that nothing happened and Jones was innocent. I asked Jones what happened and he stated him and his girlfriend was arguing over a tattoo gun and he sat on her glasses breaking them. Jones stated he then left to go to the Dollar General and get her new glasses. Jones stated that he never physically touched [REDACTED BY AGENCY].

I spoke with Jones about his mental health and medication. Jones stated he had been off his medication a few weeks. I asked Jones about the suicidal statements he made. Jones stated that he would rather die then go back to jail. Jones stated he did try to cut open his arm in a downward motion instead of across. Jones did have a superficial cut below his elbow on his right arm. Jones continued to make statements of self harm. I discussed taking Jones for a mental health evaluation in leu of charges but decided against it due to the high and aggravated nature of his charges.

Jones was searched incident arrest and secured in the rear seat of my patrol vehicle which had been cleared prior of any contraband. Jones was transported to the Habersham County Detention Center where he was turned over to jail staff without incident. While at the Detention Center a Intent to charge form and victims notification form was completed. Prior to leaving the Detention Center my patrol vehicle was checked and cleared of any contraband.

Later this date I completed and was granted the following warrants by Honorable Judge Amy Thomas.

Aggravated Assault FVA
Cruelty to Children in the 3rd degree x2
