On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at approximately 2205 hours, Hart County Sheriff’s Office requested for the Georgia State Patrol to investigate a single vehicle crash on State Route 17. I arrived at the scene of the crash and observed a white Hyundai Santa Fe off the road with debris from it around it. Hart County Sheriff’s Office told me they had spoken with the driver, and she had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. The driver was identified as Danielle Brynae Johnson [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/1998.
I began speaking with Miss Johnson at the Santa Fe, and while doing so, I observed an open White Claw alcoholic beverage in the front center cupholder. I asked Miss Johnson about the crash, and she said, “I drink a little too much. I pulled over for some help and cops showed up”. While speaking with Miss Johnson I observed her eyes were watery and bloodshot, and her speech was slurred. I asked Miss Johnson how much alcohol she had consumed, and she said, “3 white claw and 2 shots of vodka”.
I asked Miss Johnson to consent to Standardized Field Sobriety Test and she agreed. I medically qualified Miss Johnson and positioned her so I could check for Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus. I told Miss Johnson to follow my finger with her eyes and without moving her head. I placed my finger 12-15 inches from her face, slightly above eye level and began. During the evaluation, Miss Johnson would stop looking at my finger and look at me. I reminded Miss Johnson of the instructions and continued. I was able to observe 6 clues.
I instructed Miss Johnson into the stance to begin the Walk and Turn evaluation. Before I could tell Miss Johnson to not begin until I told her to, she began and took several steps. Again, I instructed Miss Johnson into the correct stance to begin. She failed to remain in the starting positioned and told me other first responder personnel at the crash scene were laughing at her. At one point, Miss Johnson requested to conduct the evaluation behind my patrol vehicle out of sight of the other first responder personnel. After multiple attempts, it became obvious Miss Johnson was unable to perform any more evaluations. I was able to observe 2 clues during my attempt to administer the Walk and Turn evaluation.
I asked Miss Johnson to provide a Preliminary Breath Test and she agreed. The results were positive for alcohol with a display of 0.212. I placed Miss Johnson under arrest and read her Georgia’s Implied Consent Notice For Suspects Age 21 or Over. I asked for a blood sample and Miss Johnson agreed.
I turned the Santa Fe over to Dean Brown Towing and transported Miss Johnson to Hart County Ems Station One for the blood draw. [REDACTED] drew Miss Johnson’s blood at approximately 2330 hours. I transported Miss Johnson to Hart County Jail and turned her over to their jail staff.
