Atlanta’s Grant Park Coffeehouse Receives 66% on Public Health Inspection

Grant Park Coffeehouse, located at 753-A Cherokee AVE SE, received a score of 66 points out of a possible 100 points during their 09/20/2021 inspection by the Georgia Department of Public Health.

The violations noted by inspector Marcie Mitchell were:

Violation of Code: [511-6-1.03(5)(c)]
Observed employee use pos and credit card, then put on gloves and plate food without washing hands. Hands must be washed when switching task and prior to donning gloves. Employee was stopped and instructed to wash hands prior to putting on gloves. Corrected On-Site. New Violation. Correct By: 09/20/2021

Violation of Code: [511-6-1.03(4)(a)(b)(c)(e)(f)]
PIC was not able to provide evidence of employee reporting agreement. Employees shall receive verifiable proof of when to report to work. EHS will provide copy of employee health agreement form. New Violation. Correct By: 09/30/2021

Violation of Code: [511-6-1.03(6)]
PIC was not able to provide procedures for vomit/fecal clean up. Facility must have procedures in place to handle vomit/fecal clean up events in the facility as well as for dogs allowed on the patio. EHS will provide PIC with an example of procedures. New Violation. Correct By: 09/30/2021

Violation of Code: [511-6-1.04(6)(f)]
Observed multiple packs of turkey bacon on prep table in kitchen area. All TCS items shall be cold held at 41F or below or hot held at 135F or higher. PIC moved bacon to refrigerator. Corrected On-Site. New Violation.

Violation of Code: [511-6-1.04(6)(c)]
Observed turkey bacon thawing in vegetable prep sink in pooled water. Items shall be thawed under cool running water. PIC emptied sink and turned on faucet. Corrected On-Site. New Violation.

Violation of Code: [511-6-1.03(5)(i)]
Observed several employees prepping food without and form of hair restraints. Hair longer than 1/2 inch on face or hair requires a proper hair restraint. Employees put on a hair net. Corrected On-Site. New Violation.

Violation of Code: [511-6-1.03(5)(g)]
Observed an employee wearing a watch while prepping food. No jewelry with the exception of a plain band shall be worn on the hands or arms while prepping food. PIC will educate staff. New Violation.

Violation of Code: [511-6-1.05(10)(e)1,2,4]
Observed utensils in dry storage and ice cream area stored with food contact surface up. All utensils when stored shall have handles up and food contact surface inverted. PIC will store properly. New Violation. Correct By: 09/30/2021

Violation of Code: [511-6-1.05(10)(e)1&3]
Observed single service cups in box stored directly on the floor. All items must be stored 6 inches off the floor. PIC will remove. New Violation.

Violation of Code: [511-6-1.05(7)(d)]
Observed build up of debris in bottom of freezer, on prep table shelf, and the pastry display cabinet. All equipment shall be clean to sight and touch. New Violation. Correct By: 09/30/2021

Violation of Code: [511-6-1.07(5)(n)]
Observed excess equipment stored in the facility. Facility shall be free of litter and unnecessary items. PIC will relocate items. New Violation. Correct By: 09/30/2021

Violation of Code: [511-6-1.07(5)(k)]
Observed flies throughout the facility. Observed fruit flies in dry storage area on onions and potatoes. Facility shall be maintained to control entry of pest. PIC will have treated. New Violation. Correct By: 09/30/2021

Violation of Code: [511-6-1.07(5)(o)]
Observed dog bowls at front patio and dog treats in facility. If bowls are provided they must be single service and facilities are not allowed to offer food for pets. PIC will remove/replace and will provide fecal clean up procedures and supplies. EHS will provide frequently asked questions brochure. New Violation. Correct By: 09/30/2021
