BurgerFi in Lawrenceville receives a 76% on their recent health inspection

BurgerFi, located at 938 Duluth Highway in Lawrenceville, received a score of 76 points out of a possible 100 points during their 10/12/2022 inspection by the Georgia Department of Public Health.

The violations noted by the inspector were:

Violation #1
1-2A: .03(2)No person in charge present at the beginning of the inspection. // There must be a person in charge on the premises of the food service establishment at all times. (Pf)
Corrective Actions: Designated employee to be in charge until the certified food safety manager arrived. CFSM arrived during the inspection. //
Violation #2
6-1D: .04(6)(i)Foods on time as a control for food safety not documented with the prep time or the discard time as per written procedures: all cheeses, cut lettuce, cut romaine, cot tomatoes, shelled eggs. // Foods on time as a control held past discard time: cut lettuce, all cheeses, shelled eggs. // When using Time Control (TPHC) for a maximum of 4 hours: 1) hot foods shall start at 135°F (57°C) or above and cold foods shall start at 41°F (5°C) or below; (P) 2) the food items shall be labeled with a start and discard time, not to exceed 4 hours; (Pf) 3) foods not consumed before the discard time shall be discarded; (P) 4) when combining ingredients, the start/discard time for the foods shall reflect the start/discard time of the earliest ingredient placed on time control; {P) 5) food in unmarked containers or packages, or marked to exceed a 4-hour limit shall be discarded; (P) 6) written procedures TPHC shall be created in advance and made available upon the Health Authorities request. (Pf) // If this item is marked out of compliance on the next routine inspection, then the food service permit may be suspended.
Corrective Actions: Food items documented with the prep time and the discard time. // Foods past discard time discarded. //
Violation #3
12C: .04(4)(m)Multiple used cloth towels stored on counter tops. // Cloths in-use for wiping counters and other equipment surfaces shall be stored in sanitizer of the appropriate concentration in-between uses and laundered daily. (C)
Corrective Actions: Towels relocated to hamper. //
Violation #4
13A: .02(1)(d)Health score posted by entrance to kitchen and not easily readable by public. // The most current inspection report shall be prominently displayed in public view at all times, within fifteen feet of the front or primary public door and between five feet and seven feet from the floor and in an area where it can be read at a distance of one foot away. (C) // If this item is marked out of compliance on the next routine inspection, then the food service permit may be suspended.
Corrective Actions: Had person in charge post score as required. //
Violation #5
15A: .05(6)(a)Drawer cooler ambient air temperature at 44.4F. // Equipment shall be maintained in a state of repair and condition that meets the requirements specified under subsections (1) and (2)of this Rule. (C) // If this item is marked out of compliance on the next routine inspection, then the food service permit may be suspended.
Violation #6
15B: .05(3)(h),(i)No QUAT sanitizer test strips in facility. // Concentration of the sanitizing solution shall be accurately determined by using a test kit or other device. (Pf)
Violation #7
16B: .06(2)(r)Hot water lever to handwashing sink at the front service area not working. // A plumbing system shall be repaired according to law; (P) and maintained in good repair. (C)
Additional Comments
Thermometer calibration check: 32F, 31.8F (Thermapen/DeltaTRACK). Cold holding items assessed at 41F or less (unless otherwise noted). Hot holding items assessed at 135F or higher.
Tomato relish is a new item as per the PIC. Product at room temperature discarded. New product to be placed on 4hr time as a control for food safety. Blanched fries on 4hr time control.
Foods on time as a control for food safety in coolers changed from a 4hr hold time to a 6hr hold time. Written procedures prepared at time of inspection.
According to the PIC, the chocolate custard well was turned off and was not being served. Had facility drain and discard chocolate custard. Ensure custard is date-marked as required when machine is cleaned and new product is added to machine. Machine is cleaned Thursday and Monday. Product in wells is discarded when machine is cleaned.
A follow up inspection will be performed between today and October 21, 2022. An additional routine inspection will be performed by December 01, 2022. A second additional routine inspection will be performed by October 11, 2022. Facility will also receive the two regular routines next year.
Food service permit suspended due to 6-1D .04(6)(i) Time as a control for food safety being marked out of compliance on three consecutive routine inspections. On-site education performed. Food service permit reinstated.
