Cod Tail of Albany in Albany receives a 59% on their recent health inspection

Cod Tail of Albany, located at 233 Cordele Rd in Albany, received a score of 59 points out of a possible 100 points during their 12/17/2025 inspection by the Georgia Department of Public Health.

The violations noted by the inspector were:

Inspector Notes: Observed facility with an expired Certified Food Safety Manager (11/12/2025) CA: At least one employee that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control food preparation and service shall be a certified food safety manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an accredited program that conforms to the national standards for organizations that certify individuals. Certified Food Safety Managers must be designated to one food service establishment only and maintain and renew certification in accordance with the requirements of the examination taken. PIC will obtain certification within 30 days.

Inspector Notes: Observed facility without employee health policy. CA: Food employees and conditional employees are informed in a verifiable manner of their responsibility to report in accordance with the Chapter, to the person in charge, information about their health and activities as they relate to diseases that are transmissible through food. PIC was provided a copy of employee health policy.

Inspector Notes: Observed cleaning brushes stored inside handwashing sink. CA: A handwashing sink shall be maintained so that it is accessible at all times for employee use. A handwashing facility may not be used for purposes other than handwashing. PIC removed items from handwashing sink.

Inspector Notes: Observed potatoes and corn cooking in same pot with boiling eggs inside of a fryer basket. CA: Food shall be protected from cross contamination by: Using separate equipment for each type, arranging each type of food in equipment so that cross contamination of one type with another is prevented, and preparing each type of food at different times or in separate areas. PIC removed fryer basket from pot with corn and potatoes.

CA: Except as specified under paragraph 2. of this subsection and when cooling as specified in DPH Rule 511-6-1-.04(6)(e)2.(ii), storing the food in packages, covered containers, or wrappings, except for loosely covered or uncovered containers in which food is being cooled if protected from overhead contamination. PIC covered food item.

Inspector Notes: Observed fried chicken being held below 135 degrees Fahrenheit (123 degrees Fahrenheit) . CA: Time/Temperature Control for Safety Food, Hot and Cold Holding. Except during preparation, cooking, or cooling, or when time is used as the public health control, time/temperature control for safety food shall be maintained at 135°F (57°C) or above, except that roasts cooked to a temperature and for a time specified in subsection (5)(a)2 of this Rule and reheated using the same temperature and time conditions as cooking may be held at a temperature of 130°F (54°C) or above. PIC discarded chicken.
