Martins in Morrow receives a 61% on their recent health inspection

Martins, located at 7200 Jonesboro Rd in Morrow, received a score of 61 points out of a possible 100 points during their 10/30/2025 inspection by the Georgia Department of Public Health.

The violations noted by the inspector were:

Violation #1:
1-2A – pic present, demonstrates knowledge, performs duties

Inspector Notes: Observed facility with food allergy awareness training. Advised PIC that employees shall be properly training on food safety including food allergy awareness as it relates to their assigned duties. Food allergy awareness includes describing foods identified as major food allergens and the symptoms that a major food allergen can cause in a sensitive individual who as an allergic reaction. Advised to obtain allergy awareness training and to provide up request of the Health Authority.

Inspector Notes: Observed one employee handle register don gloves them handled clean coffee cup with handwashing step in between. Observed another employee run register at drive thru then prep without handwashing or barrier method. Advised PIC food employees shall clean their hands immediately before engaging in food preparation, after engaging in other activities that contaminate hands, and before donning gloves. COS: Had food employees cease prep and wash hands.

Inspector Notes: Observed no written procedures for vomit/fecal response upon request. Advised PIC food establishment shall have written procedures for employees to follow.

4-2B – food-contact surfaces: cleaned & sanitized
511-6-1.05(7)(b) – food contact surfaces and utensils – cleaning frequency (p, c)

Inspector Notes: Observed black mold-like substance on metal food-contact surface, interior of ice machine. Advised PIC equipment food contact surfaces shall be cleaned at a frequency necessary to preclude accumulation of mold.

Inspector Notes: Observed container of sliced cheese and cut tomatoes cold holding under 4 hours at cold well near the front-food service above 41 degrees F. Advised PIC TCS foods shall be maintained at 41 degrees F. COS:PIC placed items in walk-in cooler (WIC) for proper cooling.

Inspector Notes: Observed improper hot holding at steamwell #1 in the main kitchen: one container of tenderloin and sausage patty below. 135F under 4 hours. Advised PIC TCS food items shall be maintained at 135 degrees F. or above. COS: Had food employee reheat to 165 or above.

Inspector Notes: Observed multiple nonfood contact surface of the interior of reach in cooler, interior of warmer cabinet, exterior of warmer cabinet, and exterior of ovens stored as clean with severe food debris and buildup. Advised PIC nonfood contact surfaces of equipment shall be kept free of accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris. Advised PIC to thoroughly clean all nonfood contact surfaces.

Inspector Notes: Observed ceiling tiles with grease accumulation and buildup. Advised PIC that the physical facilities shall be cleaned as often as necessary to keep them clean and by methods that prevent contamination of food products. Advised PIC to clean/replace ceiling tiles.

17D – adequate ventilation and lighting; designated areas used

Inspector Notes: Observed backpack stored on shelving rack storing dry goods. Also observed cell phone near prep counter near steamwell at the front-service area. Advised PIC that all personal belongings shall be placed in a designated area in order to protect from contamination. COS: Had food employee relocate cell phone and backpack to the designated area.
