Martin’s Restaurants receives a 71% on their recent health inspection

Martin’s Restaurants, located at 3494 Marietta HWY in Canton, received a score of 71 points out of a possible 100 points during their 07/1/2022 inspection by the Georgia Department of Public Health.

The violations noted by the inspector were:

Violation #1
1-2B – certified food protection manager

Inspector Notes: Facility does not have a certified food safety manager (CFSM). At least one employee that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control food preparation and service shall be a CFSM who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an accredited program that conforms to the national standards for organizations that certify individuals. Certified Food Safety Managers must be designated to one food service establishment only and maintain and renew certification in accordance with the requirements of the examination taken. Must have CFSM with 30 days. Health Authority will follow-up.

Inspector Notes: Observed employee handling ready-to-eat (RTE) food with bare hands. Employee was placing fries in bag and a few fries fell on counter–employee then picked up fries with bare hands and placed inside of bag then attempted to give to customer. Except when washing fruits and vegetables or as specified under subsection (a)4, food employees shall not contact exposed, ready-to-eat food with their bare hands and shall use suitable utensils such as deli tissue, spatulas, tongs, single-use gloves, or dispensing equipment. COS by discarding fries.

Inspector Notes: Observed an uncovered employee drink stored in food prep area. Employees must store drinks in a designated area separate from customer food. Also, drinks must be in a disposable cup with a straw and lid.

Inspector Notes: Observed pan of milk near fryer at temping 71°F. Except during preparation, cooking, or cooling, or when time is used as the public health control, TCS food shall be maintained at 41°F or below. COS by discarding.

6-1B – proper hot holding temperatures

Corrected during inspection?: Yes
Repeat: Yes
Inspector Notes: Observed fried chicken filets being hot held in steam table between 115-118°F. Except during preparation, cooking, or cooling, or when time is used as the public health control, TCS food shall be maintained at 135°F or above when being hot held. COS by reheating to at least 165°F.

Inspector Notes: Observed no inspection report posted in dining area. The most current inspection report shall be prominently displayed in public view at all times, within fifteen feet of the front or primary public door and between five feet and seven feet from the floor and in an area where it can be read at a distance of one foot away. NOTE: this violation has been written up on several inspections, yet facility continues to be uncompliant with this Rule. Today’s inspection must be posted and remain posted at all times.
