New Orleans Daiquiri Bar & Grill, located at 5415 Old National Highway in Atlanta, received a score of 70 points out of a possible 100 points during their 01/24/2023 inspection by the Georgia Department of Public Health.

The violations noted by the inspector were:

2-2A – management knowledge, responsibilities, reporting

Inspector Notes: Observed PIC/facility could not provide documentation or otherwise satisfactorily demonstrate during the inspection, that all food employees and conditional employees are informed of their responsibility to report to management information about their health and activities as it relates to diseases that are transmissible through food. The permit holder shall require food employees and conditional employees to report to the CFSM and person in charge, information about their health and activities as they relate to diseases that are transmissible through food. A food employee or conditional employee shall report the information in a manner that allows the CFSM and person in charge to reduce the risk of foodborne disease transmission, including providing necessary additional information, such as the date of onset of symptoms and an illness, or of a diagnosis without symptoms, if the food employee or conditional employee has any of the following symptoms: (i) Vomiting, (ii) Diarrhea, (iii) Jaundice, (iv) Sore throat with fever, or (v) A lesion containing pus such as a boil or infected wound that is open or draining. PIC instructed to train employees on the employee health policy and keep documentation of training onsite.

Inspector Notes: Observed establishment does not have established procedures for employees to follow when responding to vomiting or diarrheal events that involve the discharge of vomitus or fecal matter onto surfaces in the food establishment. A food establishment shall have procedures for employees to follow when responding to vomiting or diarrheal events that involve the discharge of vomitus or fecal matter onto surfaces in the food service establishment. The procedures shall address the specific actions employees must take to minimize the spread of contamination and the exposure of employees, consumers, food, and surfaces to vomitus or fecal matter. PIC will ensure facility has procedures for employees to follow when responding to vomiting or diarrheal events.

Inspector Notes: Observed the failure to store RTE, cooked foods, and raw food separate from in the walk in cooler and boxes of foods dropped on top of each other in walk-in freezer. Foods(raw animal foods) shall be stored separately food from raw RTE food and separately from cooked RTE. Raw animal food separated from each other during storage, preparation, holding, and display. C/A: Advised PIC to separate raw foods from RTE foods to prevent contamination by Using separate equipment for each type, P or (II) Arranging each type of food in equipment so that cross contamination of one type with another is prevented, P and (III) Preparing each type of food at different times or in separate areas; P (iii) Cleaning and sanitizing equipment and utensils; (v) Cleaning hermetically sealed containers of food of visible soil before opening; (vi) Protecting food containers that are received packaged together in a case or overwrap from cuts when the case or overwrap is opened; (vii) Storing damaged, spoiled, or recalled food being held in the food service establishment separate from food, equipment, utensils, linens and single-service and single-use articles; or (viii) Separating fruits and vegetables, before they are washed from ready-to-eat food. PIC advised to rearrange accordingly.

Inspector Notes: Observed in bar soda gun pink and black mold-like residue and cutting boards and prep top boards are worn out and need replacing. ALL food contact surfaces must be clean to sight and touch. C/a advised PIC to conduct detailed cleaning immediately and replace boards.

Inspector Notes: Observed hot hold cooked Mac N Cheese at 118 F, & Rice 128 F not held at 135 degrees Fahrenheit or above. Time/Temperature Control for Safety Food, Hot and Cold Holding, except during preparation, cooking or cooling or when time is used as the public health control, shall be maintained at 41°F (5°C) or below or 135°F (57°C) or above, except that roasts cooked to a temperature and for a time specified in subsection (5)(a)2 of this Rule and reheated using the same temperature and time conditions as cooking may be held at a temperature of 130°F (54°C) or above. PIC increased warmer temperature to bring foods temperature up.

Inspector Notes: Observed dead roach in the bar and kitchen area. Code- Removing Dead or Trapped Birds, Insects, Rodents, and Other Pests. Dead or trapped birds, insects, rodents, and other pests shall be removed from control devices and the premises at a frequency that prevents their accumulation, decomposition, or the attraction of pests. Advised PIC facility needs better elimination methods for the pests that still make it into the facility, and the facility must increase fly treatment prior to the next routine inspection.
