Super A Food and Gas 2 in Ball Ground receives a 66% on their recent health inspection

Super A Food and Gas 2, located at 5856 Yellow Creek Rd in Ball Ground, received a score of 66 points out of a possible 100 points during their 11/14/2024 inspection by the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Inspector Notes: Person-in-charge(PIC) is not knowledgeable on food safety. There is no certified food service manager (CFSM), multiple critical violations, and PIC was unable to answer basic food safety questions. 511-6-1.03(1)(a)-(c)1,4,5,6-14,15, 16 – Demonstration of knowledge (Pf) Based on the risk of foodborne illness inherent to the food service operation, during inspections and upon request, the person in charge shall demonstrate to the Health Authority knowledge of foodborne disease prevention, application of the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point principles, and the requirements of this Chapter. The person in charge shall demonstrate this knowledge in one of the following ways: (a) Compliance with Chapter. Complying with this Chapter by having no violations of Priority Items during the current inspection; Pf (b) Certified Food Service Manager. Being a certified food service manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an accredited program; Pf or (c) Correct Answers to Food Safety Questions. Responding correctly to the inspector’s questions as they relate to the specific food operation.

Inspector Notes: Observed no certified food safety manager for facility. At least one employee that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control food preparation and service shall be a certified food safety manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an accredited program that conforms to the national standards for organizations that certify individuals. Certified Food Safety Managers must be designated to one food service establishment only and maintain and renew certification in accordance with the requirements of the examination taken.

Inspector Notes: Observed individually packaged ranch and blue cheese cups being being cold held above 41°F due to improper storage in prep top unit. Both were stacked past the fill line subjecting the products on top to temperature abuse. [SEE TEMPERATURE OBSERVATIONS]. COS by moving to reach-in part of unit.

Inspector Notes: Observed chlorine sanitizer in 3-compartment sink at 200 ppm. Must be between 50-100 ppm. Instead of using 4.5 caps of Clorox, try using 3 or 3.5 caps (use test strips to check). COS by diluting with water.

Inspector Notes: Observed food thermometers at facility are not working even after calibrating in ice water. Food temperature measuring devices that are scaled only in Fahrenheit shall be accurate to ±2ºF in the intended range of use. Must purchase new thermometer. Health Authority recommends the digital type for easy reading.

The most current inspection report shall be prominently displayed in public view at all times, within fifteen feet of the front or primary public door and between five feet and seven feet from the floor and in an area where it can be read at a distance of one foot away. COS by posting score. Today’s report must be posted. NOTE: if report keeps falling must purchase frame and keep report inside.

*Facility was asked to close as a result of failing two consecutive inspections. County Manager will reach out via phone or email to provide further details. Facility is not permitted to reopen without Health Authority approval.
*Shelf of unfinished wood in storage closet still needs to be removed OR painted over with a washable paint

*EHP in place
