On 08/24/2025 at 2137 I was dispatched to 4605 Bill Gardner Pkwy (Super 8 Motel) room [REDACTED] in reference to a fight that occurred with a male being injured.

Upon arrival I walked by hotel room #[REDACTED] with it’s door open and observed a lamp knocked over on the table between the two beds. I heard a voice from below me, and was flagged down by the victims who were in the parking lot next to a blue F150.

I met with victims identified as [VICTIM #1], and [VICTIM #2] who stated that a friend, they knew as Daymon Sykes, had been allowed to stay in their room [REDACTED] the previous night due to his homeless status. They reported that Sykes exhibited paranoid behavior, such as listening at the door and looking out the window.

They both asked Sykes to leave the following morning which he did. Later, Sykes returned to the room uninvited, woke them up, carrying a large bag containing an object wrapped in a black shirt and assaulted them. There was no signs of forced entry, and It is unknown at this time how Sykes entered the room. They both provided a description of Sykes as a Black male, approximately six feet tall, wearing black shoes and light-colored joggers. They stated that he was last seen heading towards LaQuinta Inn after he left the scene.

I decided to speak with both victims separately to get their side of the events that transpired. I first spoke with [VICTIM #1], who reported that Sykes accused them of tampering with his account information and began acting aggressively. [VICTIM #1] stated Sykes struck him in the head and hand with a wrapped object in a black shirt, which was described as being hard, possibly a brick or rock while he was laying on the bed. [VICTIM #1] sustained visible injuries, including a 2-inch laceration, swelling and knots on his head and hand with blood running down the side of his head.

Next I interviewed [VICTIM #2] while [VICTIM #1] was in the ambulance. [VICTIM #2] stated that she attempted to intervene while Sykes was striking [VICTIM #1] on the bed and was pushed into a lamp by Sykes, causing additional bruising to her arms. She also reported being struck twice by Sykes in the head, resulting in visible knots. [VICTIM #2] stated she yelled at Sykes to “get the f*ck out”, then before leaving the room Sykes took her phone off the bed and stuck it into his pocket then left. The phone was valued at approximately $100, and was described as a black Android device from Walmart.

I obtained photographic evidence of the injuries sustained by both victims. [VICTIM #1] was transported by EMS to Henry Piedmont due to his sustained injuries. [VICTIM #2] went with him to ensure he would be okay.

Hotel staff [REDACTED] provided access to surveillance footage, which showed a male matching Sykes’ description exiting Super 8 around the time of the incident at 2134 hours, just before the time of my arrival. The footage also captured Sykes leaving the hotel premises with a bag matching the description given. The video and Photos was uploaded in Axon. Officers checked the area and no contact was made.

[VICTIM #2] provided additional contact information, including an alternate number for her mother, as they both did not have active phone service. I will be obtaining warrants for Damon Sykes for aggravated assault and theft by taking.
