On 10/16/2025, I responded to [400 BLOCK] Louise Way in reference to a domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, I made contact with Kai Dean, at the front door to the residence. Kai lead Lieutenant Yarian and I inside, where we were met by [VICTIM #1]. Kai stated [VICTIM #1] refused to leave the residence as she requested. She stated [VICTIM #1] was not on the lease, had taken her car keys and garage opener, and had been violence in the past. A verbal altercation ensued, so I escorted [VICTIM #1] outside to de-escalate the situation.
[VICTIM #1] stated he had been living at the residence with Kai since June and contributed to the household expenses. He stated Kai had been pressuring him to commit to a relationship since she found out her ex-husband had been reengaged. [VICTIM #1] stated he had a recording on his phone from this date, where Kai stated she would fabricate allegations to have him removed from the residence. I informed [VICTIM #1] that since he had been a resident since June and established residency, he would need to be evicted.
I made contact with Kai, who was still inside of the residence at that time. Kai made allegations of previous incidents where [VICTIM #1] had choked her and pulled her hair, but admitted she had not made reports to law enforcement due to [VICTIM #1] begging her not to. Kai stated she served an eviction notice on her own accord, but stated [VICTIM #1] had not been formally served be the sheriff’s office.
Kai and [VICTIM #1] provided conflicting accounts regarding their financial contributions and the nature of their relationship. [VICTIM #1] stated he owns and operates a shea butter business, and Kai owns and operates a cigar business. A golf event was held in Marietta earlier in the day, which was where the verbal argument initially began. To de-escalate the situation, [VICTIM #1] agreed to leave the residence on his own and return at a later date to retrieve his items. While outside, the garage door began to close, which [VICTIM #1] indicated Kai entered his bag to retrieve the garage opener.
I escorted [VICTIM #1] upstairs to retrieve his items for the night, which was when he noticed Kai had gone through his bag. The garage opener was missing along with the key to his motorcycle. Lieutenant Yarian, [VICTIM #1], and I searched the residence with permission, in an attempt to locate the key, but were unsuccessful. [VICTIM #1] stated he could start his motorcycle with a passcode, so I escorted him outside to ensure he could leave after he packed his belongings.
Once it was confirmed the motorcycle would start without the key, I escorted [VICTIM #1] inside to gather his items. As we entered the residence and walked up the stairs, Kai ran from [VICTIM #1]’s room into her room and closed the door. I observed the television missing from [VICTIM #1]’s room. I made contact with Kai, and she stated the television belonged to her. Kai was informed not to remove any other items from the room.
[VICTIM #1] stated a brown envelope with approximately $2,000.00 was missing from his room. The verbal argument escalated quickly, so officers ensured Kai and [VICTIM #1] were separated. Kai gave me permission to search her room and belongings for the envelope and key. I searched the room and bathroom without locating the envelope or key. I searched the closet, and when I looked into a black hat case, I observed a brown envelope, which matched the envelope [VICTIM #1] described. The envelope contained an unknown amount of money in it.
I continued to search the hat case, and Kai rushed into the closet asking what I was doing. Further inside of the case was [VICTIM #1]’s motorcycle key hidden under a camouflage cloth. I collected the key and envelope and returned to the hallway. Kai claimed the money was hers, but could not tell officers how much money was in the envelope. [VICTIM #1] stated there was a piece of paper downstairs that had the amount of cash earned from the event. Lieutenant Long grabbed the paper and brought it to me.
The paper revealed several types of transactions, including cash. The amount written for cash was $1,428.00. [VICTIM #1] stated he told Kai it was $2,000.00 to ensure she did not know the exact amount in the bag. [VICTIM #1] was able to tell officers the amount of money in the bag, including the total amount of cash written on the paper. The envelope contained approximately $834 in cash, which was near the total [VICTIM #1] advised. [VICTIM #1] stated he provided Kai $500 in cash, which made the total in cash $1,334. He mentioned another $100.00, which brought the total amount in earned cash to $1,434.
Kai advised she was aware that the key was in the hat, but she reiterated that the money belonged to her. After it was confirmed the money belong to [VICTIM #1], I advised Kai she was under arrest for obstruction. Kai was aware of the location of the key for the entirety of the call, and her refusal to return the key to [VICTIM #1] prolonged officer presence on scene. Kai lied continuously throughout the call. I placed handcuffs on Kai’s wrists, checked for proper fit, and double locked them.
I escorted Kai to her room and obtained her phones and wallet. I escorted her downstairs and ultimately to Officer Yoast’s patrol vehicle. Kai was cited for Disorderly Conduct (T) and released to Officer Yoast for transport.
