On September 29th at 19:04 hours, I responded to Walmart located at 4949 Bill Gardner Parkway. I made contact with [WITNESS #1], the asset protection officer. [WITNESS #1] stated that he asked a black male with dreads to leave Walmart because he was causing a disturbance with customers, and that he was under the influence of alcohol.
Lead manager, [WITNESS #2], walked up to me while I was talking to [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #2] stated that she asked the black male twice to leave the store for the same reasons that [WITNESS #1] had disclosed. [WITNESS #2] pointed to a black male with dreads and stated, “That’s him”.
I made contact with the male who identified himself as Latrell Stevens. I asked Steven if he had been told to leave the store, and he stated, “Yes.” I asked Stevens how many times he had been asked to leave, and he stated “twice”. Stevens stated he was trying to buy a touchscreen phone for $10. I smelled a loud odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person.
I placed Stevens under arrest and charged him with two counts of disorderly conduct, 9.04.010 subsection (Q), any person who appears in public in an intoxicated state or condition, and (W) any person who fails or refuses to remove himself from the private property of another when requested to do so by owner or occupant(s). Stevens has a court date of 01-27-2026 at 0900 hours.
Stevens was handcuffed to the rear, checked for proper fit, and double-locked. Stevens stated that he had been drinking tequila and that I couldn’t cite him for driving because he wasn’t behind the wheel. Stevens was placed in the rear of patrol unit 3, where he was transported to the Henry County Sheriff’s department, where he was released to jail staff without any incident.
Stevens was advised that he could not return to the Locust Grove Walmart and that he was being criminally trespassed from the business. I advised Stevens that if he returned, he would be arrested.
[WITNESS #2]’s verbal statement was uploaded through Axon. [WITNESS #1]’s written statement was uploaded through Axon.
