[NARRATIVE #2 on November 18, 2025]
On November 18, 2025 at approximately 1518 hours, I, Officer Smith 2125 responded to 1 North Zack Hinton Parkway McDonough, GA within Henry County (Dollar General) in reference to a female needing assistance.
When I first pulled into the parking lot, there was a male “flagging me down”. He stated that there was a white female inside the store that pulled into the parking lot “driving crazy” that appeared to be “drunk or on something but she does not need to be driving”. He advised that she was inside, near the front door.
When I walked into the store, I encountered a white female near the front display. As I began speaking with the female, she had trouble maintaining her balance and had slurred speech. She also smelled of an alcoholic beverage. The female was also very emotional and appeared to be pregnant.
She explained that she was pregnant and needed help. I asked her how could I assist her. She stated that she “wanted to go home but didn’t want to go home”. She advised that her husband was at home being mean and she wanted him gone. I explained to her that if he had not been physical or threatening to her, that I could not make him leave. After hearing that, she became agitated. She then said, “well he threw my son through the table this morning” and asked could I do something now.
I asked why didn’t she call the responders to her home when the alleged incident happened; she stated she was “scared of her husband and did not call because he told her not to”. She said that she wanted me to take her home or call her parents. I told her it was not safe for me to take her home if her husband was still there. At some point, she stated he was there and then the next she would say he was not at the home.
As I was conducting the preliminary investigation, I decided to ask my dispatcher for a history check of her residence of [1000 BLOCK] Brush Arbor McDonough, GA. The dispatcher advised that there was several calls for “disturbances” and “domestic disturbances” I also asked for her identification card. At this time, she accused me of not wanting to or trying to help her. She began to get even more upset and walked out the store. She walked to a silver Toyota Camry an attempted to get in to leave.
I noticed that the car was still running and she opened the door. I stepped into her path to prevent her from entering the car and I also reached in and turned off the car, removed the keys from the ignition and placed them in my pocket. On the keys, she had a wallet with her GA driver’s license. She was identified as Laura Thompson (OLN: [REDACTED]).
While reaching into the car, I noticed a 16oz open can of “Clubtail” screwdriver in the center cup holder. The can appeared to be cool to the touch and felt to be half full. I asked who had the beverage and she stated “it’s not mine”. She then said that her husband had it when they arrived at the Dollar General. I advised her that she said her husband was home and she stated that he was in the car with her but got out while she was in the store. Officer Kelly 2129 arrived at this point.
I spoke with Officer Kelly 2129 and attempted to fill him in on the situation. Thompson would periodically interrupt while displaying various emotions. Kelly eventually made contact with her parents via telephone. As he conversed with them, I had Thompson to sit in the car so that she would not fall or walk into traffic. Officer Kelly later went into the store to view the surveillance footage. He advised that the footage showed that she drove to the location alone and she pulled into the parking lot driving erratic. She was later informed that she was being arrested for public intoxication.
Officer Kelly placed under arrest for being publicly intoxicated; she was placed in hand cuffs in the front due to her being pregnant. It was determined that her silver Nissan was going to be left at the location, so I conducted an inventory of the vehicle. As I took photos for documentation purposes, I discovered a black plastic bag with an empty can of the same beverage and along with an unopened can on the rear passenger side floorboard. The car was locked and secured; the key was left with the on duty manager.
