On 05/10/2025, at approximately 0852 hours, I responded to [1500 BLOCK] Queen Elizabeth Drive in reference to a domestic dispute.
As I entered the residence, I observed blood drops that started at the front door and led to several different areas within the residence. On the couch was [VICTIM #1]. Once I observed [VICTIM #1], I immediately noticed she was bleeding from the face and nose. Her nose appeared swollen as if it were broken. There was a laceration below her left eye, and the blood vessels in her left eye were ruptured. I asked [VICTIM #1] if she needed emergency medical services to check her out, which she agreed to.
I took pictures of [VICTIM #1]’s face and shirt, which had a large amount of blood on it. I asked [VICTIM #1] what happened, which she stated a verbal altercation ensured between her and, Marqueith Henderson. She stated she and Marqueith had been dating for approximately three weeks and he stayed the night at her residence last night. [VICTIM #1] stated when she and Marqueith woke up this morning, he requested to be taken home. She stated she advised Marqueith that a client was coming over to pick up some items, so she would take him home after the client left.
[VICTIM #1] stated they walked to the back patio where she had began to clean up trash. She stated Marqueith became upset, said something that she couldn’t hear, then he began to strike her in the face with a closed fist approximately four or five times. [VICTIM #1] stated she fell to the floor, got up, and said something to another individual named [REDACTED], who was not a witness to the incident. She said she told Marqueith to stop or he would kill her. She stated Marqueith left the residence on foot towards Locust Grove Griffin Road.
I provided [VICTIM #1] a Victim Rights form and advised her to contact the Haven House to obtain assistance in filing for a temporary protection order. [VICTIM #1] was given a statement form, which she did not fill out while I was on scene. She was advised she could return the statement form to the police department or contact the non-emergency number to have an officer respond to the residence to pick it up.
A “Be On The Lookout” was given to Spalding County due to Marqueith walking on Locust Grove Griffin Road. Sergeant Shumate was informed that Spalding County deputies located Marqueith on Locust Grove Griffin Road at Lester Mill Road, which was around 1015 hours. Marqueith was detained until Sergeant Shumate arrived and took him into custody. He was then transported to the police department while I completed all proper documentation.
At approximately 1031 hours, I read Marqueith his Miranda rights, and he agreed to speak to me without a lawyer present. Marqueith stated he and [VICTIM #1] went out on the night prior, 05/09/2025. He stated he requested to be taken home, but [VICTIM #1] insisted he stay at her house. Marqueith stated when he woke up, he told [VICTIM #1] he wanted to be taken home, but she told him she would take him home after a client picked up items from her house.
Marqueith stated there was a verbal altercation inside of the residence, which was later continued outside on the back patio. He stated [VICTIM #1] began picking up trash while he was smoking a cigarette, at which time she threw a pizza box at him. Marqueith stated the pizza box struck him in his left eye. He stated [VICTIM #1] then threw bleach on him. Marqueith stated when [VICTIM #1] threw bleach on him, he had a defensive reaction and shoved her. He stated he blacked out at that time. Marqueith stated while [VICTIM #1] was on the ground, he kicked her in the stomach.
Marqueith stated when he left the residence, he went to a playground off of St. Augustine Parkway and waited until the rain stopped. Marqueith had bleach stains on his shirt and hat. I did not observe any injuries to his left eye, but I did observe red marks on his right hand. While on scene at the residence, I did not observe or smell any bleach in the residence nor on the patio.
Once all applicable paperwork was completed, I transported Marqueith to the Henry County Detention Center and turned him over to jail staff.
Photos of the scene, [VICTIM #1]’s injuries, Marqueith’s shirt and hat, Marqueith’s left eye, and Marqueith’s right hand were uploaded to Axon Capture as evidence.
An arrest warrant for aggravated battery was sworn to and issued by Judge Flora.
