On 11/01/2025 at approximately 2100 hours, I was working an off-duty security detail at the Lake Joy Trails of Terror located at [400 BLOCK] A Lake Joy Road in Kathleen, GA 31047. I was wearing a class B uniform with my badge clearly displayed on my belt as well as my jacket.

I was notified by staff that one of their employees had just been assaulted by a patron while going through the haunted house. I was advised that the victim [REDACTED BY AGENCY] (W/F, DOB:[REDACTED BY AGENCY]/2009) was ran into by the patron and her breasts were intentionally groped during the interaction.

INTERACTION WITH VICTIM:

After learning this information, I made my way to the victim and began gathering information about what happened. I spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who advised she was working as an actress in the haunted house when a group of what she believed were teenage black males came into her area. She advised that the group was wearing white “Extra Experience” shirts and one of the individuals intentionally ran into her. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said that when this individual ran into her, they put their hands on her breasts and intentionally grabbed/ groped her before running off through the haunted house.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] advised that she knew the suspect had a dark skin complexion and was wearing the white “extra experience” shirt. She said the suspect also had dreadlocks and was wearing a blue beanie cap. When I learned this information, security personnel and I began searching the haunted house for the suspect. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] walked with us to identify the suspect. We entered the haunted house from the exit and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] quickly identified the suspect and group once we encountered them. She pointed out the individual wearing a blue beanie cap, wearing a white “Extra Experience” shirt, and dreadlocked hair.

INTERACTION WITH SUSPECT:

Once [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had positively identified the suspect, I approached and identified myself as a law enforcement officer. The suspect was a black female who had a teenage black male juvenile with her. I escorted both the suspect and the juvenile out of the haunted house and explained that I was investigating a claim of sexual battery against one of the employees.

I explained the situation and told the suspect that she had been identified by the victim as the person who groped her. The suspect laughed and made the statement “yeah I did it, I grabbed them.” Two employees were standing nearby when she made this statement, so I asked her to walk with me to my vehicle and away from the other people nearby.

As we walked, the suspect told me several times that I was not a real law enforcement officer and that this was all part of the haunted house. I explained to her numerous times that I was in fact a law enforcement officer and showed her my badge multiple times. She continued to laugh at me and say “this ain’t real.” When we got to my vehicle, she could see that my blue emergency lights were activated and I asked her to identify herself. She provided the name “Krystal Grass” and said “Krystal with a K.” I asked for her date of birth and she provided “[REDACTED BY AGENCY]/1984” as her date of birth.

I then turned to the juvenile and asked him to identify himself. The female suspect then began arguing with me saying that he did not have to identify himself. I told her that he did in fact have to identify himself whether he was a juvenile or not, but she continued to argue with me.

I warned the suspect that if she continued to obstruct and hinder my investigation, she would be arrested for obstruction. She continued to argue with me, and I told her that she was now being placed under arrest. I instructed her to face away from me and put her hands behind her back but she refused. I grabbed her by her arms and turned her around at which point she began to struggle and tried to free her arms.

I pinned the suspect against the front of my patrol car and gained control of both of her arms. She continued to struggle but eventually stopped and I handcuffed her behind the back. I then radioed dispatch and asked them to send me a patrol unit to transport the suspect to the detention center. Deputy Mahome was dispatched and advised he was coming from the Sheriff’s Office which was a distance away.

As we waited for Dep. Mahome to arrive, the suspect began telling me that she did not think I was a real law enforcement officer and that was why she initially admitted to groping the victim’s breasts. She claimed that she did not actually grope any female because she “doesn’t even like females.” I explained to her that since the allegation was made and she admitted to doing it, she was being charged with sexual battery as well as obstruction for hindering my investigation as well as struggling with me as I was taking her into custody.

INTERACTION WITH DEP. MAHOME:

Shortly thereafter, Dep. Mahome arrived on scene, and I escorted the female to his car. I instructed Dep. Mahome to swap out our handcuffs and he began to remove my handcuffs from the suspect’s wrists to replace with his. As soon as he removed my handcuffs from the suspect’s wrists, she bolted towards the woodline and ran into the woods.

Dep. Mahome and I gave chase behind her and located her running through the trees. We gave commands for her to stop running but she refused. I moved in front of Dep. Mahome and began gaining on the suspect when I heard Dep. Mahome fall behind me. I could hear him let out a painful shout, but he told me to keep going after the suspect.

I caught up to the suspect just as she was sliding down a small ravine. I saw the suspect getting up to run again so I jumped from the top of the ravine and tackled her. I was able to quickly gain control of the suspect and held her in place until Dep. Mahome arrived at my location. We handcuffed the female and escorted her back out of the woods and to Dep. Mahome’s patrol car where she was secured in the back seat.

It was not until this point that I realized Dep. Mahome had been injured from his fall. Dep. Mahome limped to his driver’s seat and began complaining of pain in his right knee. His uniform pants had been torn, and I could see his knee was freshly scratched and bleeding. I radioed for EMS to respond to check Dep. Mahome for injuries and Lt. Mitchelson responded as well. EMS arrived and advised that Dep. Mahome needed to be transported to the Emory Medical Center in Warner Robins for treatment due to his injuries.

While EMS was on scene, I returned to the suspect and asked if she had been injured. She advised that she had not, but I still asked if she wanted to be seen by EMS personnel. She refused.

TRANSPORT OF SUSPECT:

Sgt. K. Ferguson arrived shortly thereafter to transport the suspect to the detention center. I explained that she was now being charged with three counts of obstruction with one being a felony due to Dep. Mahome’s injury. I told him that she was also being charged with sexual battery. He took custody of the female, and I was approached by an individual claiming to have come to the trails that evening with the suspect. He identified himself as [REDACTED] (B/M, DOB:[REDACTED BY AGENCY]/1988) and stated that he was a friend of the suspect.

I explained the situation and that she was being arrested. He asked for me to speak with her about what to do with the juveniles that were with them. [REDACTED] said he would drive the juveniles home if she gave her permission.

I returned to the suspect and relayed this message from [REDACTED]. She advised that it was fine for her to take custody of the juveniles, she only asked that I retrieve her phone from [REDACTED] so she could have phone numbers at the jail. I returned to [REDACTED] and relayed this message and retrieved the suspect’s phone. The phone was turned over to Sgt. Ferguson, and he transported her to the detention center without incident.

I ran the name “Krystal Grass” through dispatch using the date of birth the suspect provided [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/1984) but they advised they were unable to locate anyone by that name. Sgt. Ferguson advised that while enroute to the detention center, he was able to obtain the suspect’s correct information, and she admitted to him that she had given me a fake name and date of birth. The suspect was identified as Chamene Thomas (B/F, DOB:[REDACTED BY AGENCY]/1985) so I instructed Sgt. Ferguson to charge her with providing a false name/date of birth to law enforcement along with the aforementioned charges.

INTERACTION WITH WITNESSES:

I identified two haunted trails employees who were standing beside me when I first spoke with the suspect. The first was identified as [WITNESS #1] (W/F, DOB:[REDACTED BY AGENCY]/1970) and the other was [WITNESS #2] (W/F, DOB:[REDACTED BY AGENCY]/1993). Both witnesses advised that they heard the suspect say multiple times that she grabbed the victim’s breasts and even pointed out that the suspect laughed about the incident as she admitted to it. I obtained witness statements from both [WITNESS #1] and [WITNESS #2] as well as one from the victim Serenity. All will be attached to this report.

SYNOPSIS:

The suspect was able to be identified and admitted to committing the crime of sexual battery. She obstructed me in my initial investigation and further obstructed me as I attempted to take her into custody. When Dep. Mahome arrived and we tried to transfer handcuffs, she obstructed for a third time and fled from us on foot. She refused to obey commands to stop and was the direct cause of a serious injury to Dep. Mahome’s knee. It was later determined that she provided me with a false name and date of birth as well.

The suspect was charged with sexual battery, three counts of obstruction with one being a felony, and providing a false name and date of birth to law enforcement. I will be signing warrants against her for the previous charges.
