On Friday, 05/02/2025, at approximately 0745 hours, I was on duty with Houston County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer Division, at my assigned school Veterans High School (VHS). I was notified about an incident.
INFORMATION:
Mrs. [WITNESS #1] called for assistance to the lunchroom. She had two students, Eric Dawson and [REDACTED BY AGENCY], who almost got into a fight. She had Eric and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] separated by the time I arrived.
Eric did not want to talk about the incident at first. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated he was sitting at a table talking to his buddy when Eric pushed him out of his seat. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated he did not know why Eric pushed him. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] followed Eric and pushed him into a booth. Both students separated before appearing to try and fight each other again. Other students got between them and kept them separated.
Eric wrote a statement stating he just pushed [REDACTED BY AGENCY] playfully and did not mean to push him out of his chair. He said he tried to walk away from the situation after [REDACTED BY AGENCY] pushed him.
After watching video of the incident. I decided to charge them both with Disorderly conduct due to them causing a disturbance and getting physical with each other. Eric was taken into custody. He was placed in handcuffs double locked and checked for fit. I advised Eric he was being charged with Disorderly conduct. He was searched prior to being transported.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] was released from his parents. The report will be sent to juvenile. Video will be downloaded and submitted. Cpl. Lawrence transported Eric to the Houston County Detention Center.
