[Please note: The following is a direct transcription from the officer’s narrative report. We do not fix any spelling or grammatical errors. Any changes made by our staff are placed inside brackets.]

On 08/19/2021, Deputy C. Cuskey and I, Deputy N. Craig, were on duty with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office while driving marked patrol unit 856 were conducting traffic enforcement on Golden Isle Parkway.

At approximately 0955 hours, we were traveling east in the right lane when I observed a maroon, 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis traveling east bound. The vehicle passed my marked patrol unit from the rear in the left lane and the vehicle’s passenger side tail light lens was broken. The vehicle entered a turn around to travel back west bound on Golden Isle Pkwy.

I checked the vehicles Georgia tag [REDACTED BY AGENCY], through dispatch and was informed it showed a status of no insurance. The vehicle was last scene traveling west bound on Golden Isle Pkwy. I began traveling west bound to locate the vehicle at which point I observed the vehicle traveling back east bound. I initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle while traveling east on Golden Isle Pkwy.

OBSERVATIONS AFTER THE STOP:

I made contact with the driver/offender, Interria Minor. Minor said she was traveling to work at Perdue, and she lived in Dooly County. She turned around because she did not like being around law enforcement. She said the vehicle was not hers, that it was her boyfriend, [WITNESS #1], and she was unaware of the insurance status. She did say she regularly drove the vehicle.

CONCLUSION:

Minor was arrested for no insurance (40-6-10), and tail light requirement (40-8-230). She was handcuffed behind her back and the cuffs were checked for fit and double locked. She was placed in the back of my patrol vehicle and transported to Houston County Detention Center. She was turned over to the jail staff and booked on the citations. The on-call wrecker service was contacted and Peach State Towing removed the Mercury from the scene.
