On Friday, April 11, 2025, Cpl J Lewis, Houston County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), Criminal Investigations Division (CID), was on duty as an Investigator with HCSO. At approximately 0920 hours, the victim, [VICTIM #1], came to HCSO, 201 N. Perry Pkwy, Perry, GA, to file an incident report regarding fraudulent activity.
INTERVIEW WITH VICTIM:
Cpl Lewis spoke with [VICTIM #1], who provided the following information:
– On March 23, 2025, [VICTIM #1] wrote Robins Financial Credit Union (RFCU), Account # [REDACTED], Check # [REDACTED], for $1,400 to an acquaintance, [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] placed the check in the outside post office box at the United States Postal Service Post Office, 1400 Macon Rd, Perry, GA. The check cleared and $1,400 was deducted from his account. On April 10, [VICTIM #1] received a phone call from [REDACTED] in reference to not receiving the check. Upon reviewing his checking records, [VICTIM #1] discovered the check was altered and written to “[REDACTED],” and deposited into an unknown suspect’s JP Morgan Chase bank account. [VICTIM #1] reported this incident to RFCU, who instructed him to file this incident report with local law enforcement.
Cpl Lewis provided [VICTIM #1] with the case number, and information on how to obtain a copy of this incident report.
