On 07/23/2026 at 1938 hours, I, Officer Cooper, was dispatched to the Citgo located at 508 Watson Boulevard regarding a battery.
Upon arrival, I made contact with the reporting party/victim, Mr. [VICTIM #1] (DOB:[REDACTED BY AGENCY]1990), at his residence located at [500 BLOCK] Marshall Avenue. [VICTIM #1] provided the following information:
[VICTIM #1] advised that he recently encountered his ex-girlfriend, Ms. Jessica Swaim (DOB: [REDACTED BY AGENCY]1999), at Walmart approximatley one week ago. He stated that the two ended their relationship in January 2026 after she had an affair with another male whose name he did not know. [VICTIM #1] advised that during the encounter at Walmart, he observed Swaim wearing a wedding ring, leading him to believe she had married the male with whom she had been involved. [VICTIM #1] stated that Swaim initially attempted to walk past him without speaking, but the two eventually began talking.
[VICTIM #1] advised that later this date, Swaim contacted him and asked to meet at the Citgo located on Watson Boulevard to talk. [VICTIM #1] stated that although his residence is within walking distance of the store, he drove his blue 2003 Dodge Ram, bearing Georgia registration [REDACTED], to the location. Upon arrival, he observed Swaim parked on the west side of the business near the fuel pumps. [VICTIM #1] stated that he parked beside her vehicle, exited his truck, and entered the passenger side of her vehicle to speak with her.
[VICTIM #1] advised that while they were talking, an unknown Black male, described as wearing what appeared to be a dark-colored tank top and dark pants, suddenly opened the vehicle door aggressively and began striking him multiple times in the head, face, and neck area.
I observed [VICTIM #1] to have sustained significant visible injuries. He had active bleeding from his head, a laceration above one of his eyelids, swelling to the left temple, and what appeared to be a severely swollen and possibly broken nose that was visibly displaced. He also had a deep laceration across the bridge of his nose. Based on his demeanor and the extent of his injuries, [VICTIM #1] appeared to possibly be suffering from a concussion.
At [VICTIM #1]s request, EMS responded to the scene at approximately 1954 hours. EMS evaluated [VICTIM #1] before transporting him [REDACTED BY AGENCY] at approximately 2010 hours for further treatment. I attempted to utilize FLOCK camera systems in an effort to identify Ms. Swaims vehicle and the suspects alleged dark-colored Ford Mustang but received negative results. I also attempted to make contact with Ms. Swaim at her listed addresses, including [100 BLOCK] Wilcrest Circle and Sandpiper Apartments, Building [REDACTED], Apartment [REDACTED].
I was unable to make contact at either location. At this time, I was unable to positively identify either vehicles registration plate. However, both vehicles are visible in the surveillance footage obtained during this investigation. [VICTIM #1] advised that he never put his hands on the suspect and that he only got attacked.
I then made contact with employees at the Citgo and asked whether they had witnessed the altercation. The employees advised they had not observed the incident but stated the business was equipped with surveillance OCGA cameras. They provided me with the contact information for the store manager, Mr. [REDACTED] ([REDACTED BY AGENCY]), in order to obtain the footage.
I contacted Mr. [REDACTED] by telephone and advised him that I was requesting surveillance footage from approximately 1900 hours through 2000 hours on this date. Mr. [REDACTED] reviewed the footage, located the incident, and sent a screen recording of the relevant video to my department-issued cell phone.
Upon reviewing the surveillance footage, I observed the footage to be of low quality. I also observed a dark-colored Ford Mustang parked near the fuel pumps on the west side of the business. I also observed a white passenger vehicle and [VICTIM #1]s blue Dodge Ram parked farther west of the pumps. The video showed an unknown Black male, wearing a gray tank top and black shorts, exit the Mustang and walk toward [VICTIM #1]. The male then opened the passenger door of the vehicle [VICTIM #1] was occupying, partially pulled [VICTIM #1] from the vehicle, and repeatedly struck him in the head and upper body before leaving the area.
Photographs were taken of [VICTIM #1]s injuries, and the surveillance video obtained from Citgo will be submitted into evidence with this report.
Due to my inability to positively identify the suspect or make contact with Ms. Swaim, I am not seeking warrants at this time. All parties were given case numbers and advised of the process for obtaining a copy of this report.
