On Saturday, 10/04/2025, at approximately 2332 hours, I was dispatched to the area of Highway 247 and Old Hawkinsville Road in reference to an aggravated assault.

Before arrival, Dispatch advised the offender and the victim were in a white 2018 Chevrolet Colorado driving in the area of Highway 247 and Old Hawkinsville road. The offender told Dispatch she shot the victim because he was hitting her while they were riding in the truck.

Myself and other Deputies responded to the area blue lights and siren. Deputy Painter arrived on scene first and advised the Colorado was stopped on the south side of the road on Old Hawkinsville Road facing east. Lieutenant Mitchelson and Deputy Eisner arrived next on scene. I arrived after them and we conducted a felony stop on the truck. I grabbed my patrol issued AR-15 from my patrol car. Deputy Eisner was standing on the driver side of his patrol car which was positioned in the west bound lane of Old Hawkinsville Road facing east toward the pickup truck. Deputy Painter was standing on the driver side of his patrol vehicle which was positioned in the east bound lane behind the white Chevrolet Colorado facing east.

I stood between Deputy Eisner and his patrol vehicle with my AR-15 rifle aimed toward the truck. I saw the driver side truck door open with the left leg of the driver hanging out of it. Deputy Painter and Lieutenant Mitchelson gave verbal commands to the passenger in the truck who was a white female. As the female complied with their commands and walk backward toward them Deputy Painter asked her who else was in the vehicle. The female stated the only person in the vehicle was her son and she shot him. Deputy Painter detained her in handcuffs and asked her where the firearm was. She stated the firearm was in the passenger floor board. She was secured in the backseat of Deputy Painter’s patrol vehicle.

The entire time Deputy Painter and Lieutenant Mitchelson were giving verbal commands to the female, the male in the driver seat was not moving or appeared to be unconscious from the possible gunshot wound.

Lieutenant Mitchelson, Deputy Eisner, and I approached the pickup truck with our patrol firearms aim toward the truck due to the potential threat of a firearm in the truck with the male. Lieutenant Mitchelson approached the truck from the passenger side as Deputy Eisner and I approached the driver side of the truck.

Deputy Eisner and I instructed the male in the driver seat to show us his hands, but he refused to. The male was sitting in the driver seat, leaned over the middle console with his left leg hanging out of the truck. He appeared to be unconscious and we continued to give verbal commands for him to us his hands. Deputy Eisner and I approached the truck closer as Lieutenant Mitchelson approached the truck from the passenger side.

Lieutenant Mitchelson advised us he saw the firearm laying on the passenger floor board of the truck. Deputy Eisner and I made contact with the male in the driver seat. We asked the male if he could hear us and he was not responsive. The male was not moving and still leaned over the middle console of the truck. I saw he had nothing in his hands as we made contact with him. Lieutenant Mitchelson secured the firearm from the truck.

I touched the male on his left shoulder and shook him to see if he responded to me. The male was still unresponsive and I pulled him off the center console and saw blood coming from the right side of his face. He was breathing and making noises but still unresponsive to us. I turned his head so I could see the right side of his face and saw more blood on the right side of his face. The male was limp and was not supporting his own body weight as I maneuvered him in the seat to see where he was shot at.

Deputy Eisner and I pulled the male out of the truck. He was gently laid on the road and searched for any weapons or any other injuries on him. Deputy Painter assisted us with checking him and stated he had a gunshot wound to the right side of his face around his cheek. Emory EMS arrived on scene and we assisted putting the male on the gurney. He was turned over to Emory EMS to be medically treated. Corporal Watkins arrived on scene to assist.

I started taking pictures of the outside and inside of the Colorado. There was blood all over the middle console. An open container of Modelo beer was in the cup holder of the middle console. There was other various items in the truck such as a black ball cap laying on the passenger seat and sunflower seeds all over the passenger floor board.

The offender was identified as Lorie Snipes and the victim was [VICTIM #1], her son.

Emory EMS transported [VICTIM #1] to Navicent in Macon, Georgia.

Deputy Painter checked the firearm used in the incident through Dispatch. It was a black Raven Arms .25 caliber pistol. (Serial #1255379)

Dispatch advised the gun was not stolen. Deputy Painter turned the firearm over to Corporal Watkins who secured it in his patrol vehicle.

Sergeant Ross with the Criminal Investigation Division was notified of the incident and enroute to the scene.

Lorie was take out of Deputy Painter’s patrol vehicle and pictures were taken of her entire person. She had blood all over her shirt and some on her hands. The pictures were attached to the report. She was still detained and secured in my patrol car.

Sergeant Ross arrived on scene and was informed of the incident. Corporal Waktins turned the firearm used in the incident over to him and the scene was turned over to him as well.

The white Chevrolet Colorado was towed by Central Georgia Towing and secured at the Houston County Sheriff’s Office as evidence.

I transported Lorie to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office where she was interviewed by Sergeant Ross. Lorie was arrested for Aggravated Assault-Family Violence and I transported her to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

She was turned over to the detention staff and booked on her charge.
