On 05/03/2026 at 1125 hours I, Sgt. M Smith, responded to [200 BLOCK] Meadowdale Dr., in reference to a domestic. The caller advised that a female on scene possibly had a firearm and was trying to force entry into a residence. As I pulled on scene, a female standing on the porch next door was pointing at her neighbors house and was in a frantic state. I observed the door to [200 BLOCK] Meadowdale Dr., was standing open as I approached on foot.
As I made my way up the driveway, I observed a knife laying on the concrete and could hear the hissing of air coming out of one of the tires on a vehicle in the driveway. A male subject came out onto the porch and saw me, he advised the female was inside. I asked about the gun that was mentioned and he stated it was secured. I could then see into the residence from where I was positioned and observed a female striking at a male subject with a closed fist. The male then pushed the female onto a cushioned chair, and was attempting to stop her assault.
I then grabbed the female by the left wrist, and utilized a basic joint manipulation tactic to force the females arm behind her back, while giving her commands to give me her hands. I then grabbed the females other hand, and forced it behind her back as well. Once I had control of both of the females hands, I placed her in custody based on having visibly observed the assault described. I got her off of the chair, and was attempting to escort her out of the residence when she yelled at the male subject, “I’Il f*cking kill you!”.
The female then intentionally spit on the male subject. I advised the female to stop, and that she had just committed three offenses since I had arrived on scene. I then escorted the female to my patrol vehicle, and she was secured in the back seat. I then advised Ofc. Ford to stand by with the female while I gathered information. I then returned to the residence to begin interviewing the victim and witnesses.
Once back at the residence, I spoke to Mr. [VICTIM #1], the victim of the assault. Mr. [VICTIM #1] advised the female in custody, is the expecting mother of his unborn child/ex-girlfriend. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated that he was in the shower when he heard yelling outside. He stated that he came outside and observed, the arrestee, Ms. Shaniya Causey, physically fighting with his female neighbor/friend, Ms. [VICTIM #2]. Mr. [VICTIM #1] advised that the fight was broken up, and Ms. Causey began stabbing the tires of his vehicle, with a knife she had in her hand.
Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated that Ms. Causey then came into his residence uninvited and began destroying property and assaulting him. Mr. [VICTIM #1] stated that is when I arrived and observed the assault taking place. Mr. [VICTIM #1] advised that when Ms. Causey was knocking items off furniture, his TV was damaged. I observed the TV and observed the screen was broken due to what appeared to be an impact near the top right corner of the TV.
I then spoke with Ms. [VICTIM #2], the neighbor that had been attacked by Ms. Causey. Ms. [VICTIM #2] had a small bruise on her right temple, as well as blood between her top front teeth. Ms. [VICTIM #2] stated that Ms. Causey arrived on scene, had a knife in her hand and a verbal altercation started between the two of them. Ms. [VICTIM #2] stated that Ms. Causey approached her with the knife in her hand and was threatening her.
Ms. [VICTIM #2] advised that when Ms. Causey got close to her, she pushed her away, which caused Ms. Causey to then begin physically fighting her. Ms. [VICTIM #2] advised that Ms. Causey had the knife in her hand while she was attacking her. Ms. [VICTIM #2] advised she wasn’t sure if she actually got cut by the knife, but upon further inspection for injuries, no stab wounds or lacerations were found. Ms. [VICTIM #2] stated that Ms. Causey then began stabbing the tires on Mr. [VICTIM #1]s vehicle.
While on scene I spoke with Ms. [WITNESS #1]. Ms. [WITNESS #1] advised that she observed Ms. Causey attacking Ms. [VICTIM #2] while the knife was in her hand, and heard the threats made to Ms. [VICTIM #2]. Ms. [WITNESS #1] advised she had to use her cane to break up the fight. Both subjects advised that they then observed Ms. Causey go into Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s residence and that I arrived shortly after.
I then spoke to another witness, Mr. [WITNESS #2]. Mr. [WITNESS #2] was inside of [200 BLOCK] Meadowdale Dr., when Ms. Causey came inside. Mr. [WITNESS #2] stated that he observed Ms. Causey destroying property in the residence and the assault against Mr. [VICTIM #1]. Mr. [VICTIM #1] obtained the television and showed me the damage to the screen.
While on scene I took photographs of the damage to Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s vehicle, the knife observed laying in the driveway, and the damage to the television. The knife was collected prior to leaving the scene and I then responded to headquarters. Ms. Causey was transported by the WRPD transport van, during my investigation.
Once at headquarters, an inventory search of Ms. Causey’s purse, yielded the discovery of a green leafy substance in a clear plastic bag. Based on my knowledge, training, and experience I suspected the material to be Marijuana based on the smell and appearance. While at headquarters I field tested the suspected Marijuana and the field test yielded a result of positive for THC. The material was weighed as a total package weight of 3.2 grams and was then packaged according to WRPD guidelines. The knife I collected on scene was also logged into evidence while at headquarters.
Ms. Causey was charged with the following offenses and warrants will be secured within 48 hours: Aggravated Assault, Simple Battery, two counts of Terroristic Threats, Damage to Property, Criminal Trespass – entry, and Possession of Marijuana. Photos were uploaded to RMS.
