On 05/30/2025, I Corporal Edwards, responded code one to [100 BLOCK] Glencrest Drive in reference to a domestic dispute.

Dispatch advised male and female fighting. Dispatch stated they were told the male put the female’s head through a wall. Dispatch advised parties were separated at this time.

When I arrived Officer Washburn was already on scene talking with the female. I saw the male walking toward the inside of the house through the garage when I arrived. I asked Officer Washburn where the male is and the female pointed inside. I went inside the residence and located a male. The male told me his name was Michael. Michael was carrying clothes and shoes and stated he was just going to leave. I immediately smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Michael’s person. In the main entry way door from the garage I did notice a large hole in the drywall. I asked Michael what happened in the home between him and the female outside. Michael stated he was trying to leave and the female got in front of him to prevent him from leaving.

Michael then pointed at a box and stated the female tripped over the box and into the drywall herself. I pointed out the significance of the damage to wall and asked Michael if he pushed her out of the way. Michael stated he did not push her. I asked Michael if he hit her or she hit him. Michael stated the argument never became physical. While gathering Michael’s information he looked over at Officer Boyer and smiled stating “this is your third time being here right?”. I asked Michael how everything started. Michael stated he cooked dinner for the household. Michael stated he then began to clean up from cooking. Michael then stated the female began to “pitch a fit” because he is cleaning up and the female’s daughter is trying to sleep. I asked Michael if the female’s daughter heard or saw any of the incident, he stated no. I asked for the daughter’s information. I then was able to identify the 4 year old as [REDACTED BY AGENCY].

I then went and spoke with the female, [VICTIM #1]. I walked out to the garage where Officer Washburn and [VICTIM #1] were speaking. Officer Washburn was touching the back of [VICTIM #1]’s head. [VICTIM #1] was pointing out to Officer Washburn a large knot on the back of her head from where [VICTIM #1] stated Michael put her head through the wall. I asked [VICTIM #1] to explain what happened. [VICTIM #1] stated she was trying to go to sleep with her daughter. [VICTIM #1] stated Michael was in the kitchen acting crazy. I asked [VICTIM #1] was caused Michael to be so irate and upset. [VICTIM #1] stated he came home from work angry. [VICTIM #1] stated Michael had been drinking since 1:00pm. [VICTIM #1] stated the argument started inside the hallway from the garage to the kitchen.

[VICTIM #1] stated she came out to see why he was making so much noise and was going to shut the garage door as well. [VICTIM #1] stated Michael became irate and grabbed her by throat and forcefully strangled her to the point she could not breathe. [VICTIM #1] stated he let her go and grabbed her around the throat again and this time threw her head into the wall. [VICTIM #1] stated she rand off and told him she was going to call the police. [VICTIM #1] stated Michael then began to pack his belongings into the back of his truck. I did notice [VICTIM #1] had several red marks on her neck. [VICTIM #1] stated the marks were from Michael strangling her.

EMS did arrive on scene to evaluate [VICTIM #1]. EMS stated [VICTIM #1] should go to the hospital due to her drinking and having a head injury but [VICTIM #1] refused.

I then spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was laying in the bedroom watching a TV show on [VICTIM #1]’s phone. I asked what happened, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she heard her mom and Michael screaming at each other.

I spoke again with Michael. I asked Michael how [VICTIM #1] got the red marks on the front of her throat. Michael shrugged his shoulders and stated they had been drinking. I asked Michael how much he had to drink. Michael stated he had been drinking since 2:30pm and had consumed 8 beers. Michael stated that was a normal consumption for him. Michael stated the last 3 months for him and [VICTIM #1] have been rough. I asked Michael what caused all this. Michael opened a cabinet that was full of vodka bottles. Michael was complaining about the vodka bottles and brand and the fact that he was having to pay for it. Michael stated he was trying to only drink beer and [VICTIM #1] escalated it by drinking vodka and tequila.

Due to testimonial and physical evidence, I placed Michael under arrest for aggravated assault family violence and cruelty to children in the third degree. I placed his hands behind his back where they were placed into handcuffs. The handcuffs were checked for fit and double locked. I placed Michael into the back of my patrol car where he was placed into a seat belt for his safety.

[VICTIM #1] was advised of resources if needed.

I transported Michael to Jackson County Jail where custody was transferred. All proper intake paperwork was completed. My back seat was checked and cleared.
