On Saturday, October 14, 2023 at approximately 1703 hours, I observed a white 2022 Dodge Ram racing a red Ford Mustang at a high rate of speed while sitting stationary at Good Hope church, on Highway 49.

After observing the two racing vehicles, I pulled out and was able to lock onto them with my Raptor RP-1 radar system, going in the same direction, traveling northbound towards the Highway 49 and Highway 18 intersection.

Once locked on, I observed a high doplar tone, indicating a high rate of speed, and observed the speed of 101 mph. I then activated my emergency lights and siren to catch up to the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop.

Once caught up to the vehicles, the Dodge Ram, bearing the Georgia license plate of [REDACTED BY AGENCY], pulled into the driveway of [1500 BLOCK] Highway 49 and the Ford Mustang continued down Highway 49. I followed behind the Dodge Ram, registered to this address, and had dispatch inform Baldwin County of the Ford Mustang as well.

Once in the driveway, the driver, identified as Alexis Evans, rapidly got out of the vehicle and began to run towards the house. I notified dispatch and other deputies of a possible foot pursuit as I exited my vehicle. Once I began to run towards Alexis, she surrendered herself and stated that she was not trying to run. I then detained her in double locked handcuffs behind her back and informed her of the reason for the stop.

I informed Alexis that I had observed her at 101 mph while racing the red Ford Mustang. Alexis stated that she was racing the Ford Mustang because she thought that the driver was cute. I advised Alexis of her Miranda Rights, to which she acknowledged them and stated that she would continue speaking with me.

I went on to ask Alexis if there was anything inside of her vehicle that would get her in trouble. Alexis stated that there was some marijuana inside of the center console of the vehicle, that she thought was under an ounce. Alexis also stated that she had just bought it for her father who allegedly had a medical marijuana card.

As I continued speaking with Alexis, Deputy Allen and Deputy Brown arrived on scene to assist. Once other deputies were on scene, I began a search of Alexis’ vehicle, incident to arrest. I located a glass smoking device inside of the driver door, containing suspected methamphetamine residue. Also in the driver door was a plastic bag containing a crystallized substance, believed to be methamphetamine, and an orange grinder, containing a green leafy substance, believed to be marijuana.

As the search of the vehicle continued, I located two vape pens, containing suspected THC oil, in the center console area of the vehicle. After finding the suspected THC vape pens, I located a green zip up pouch, in the center console, that contained more green leafy substance, believed to be marijuana and two more baggies of suspected methamphetamine. Also in the center console was $367.00 of U.S. currency of different denominations. No other illegal items were located after finding the currency.

After confiscating all items found, Deputy Allen began walking Alexis to his patrol car, to transport her to the jail. As they were walking, Deputy Allen stated that Alexis had told him that she had more narcotics on her person and that it was in her bra. Being that no female deputy was present, I asked Alexis if she could retrieve it while keeping herself covered, to which she stated yes.

I then undid her handcuffs and allowed her to retrieve what she had. Alexis then handed over two baggies, containing more crystallized substance believed to be methamphetamine. Alexis was then placed back in double locked handcuffs behind her back and transported to the jail, where she was turned over to the jail staff without incident.

I remained on scene until Mike Adams Towing arrived to tow the vehicle to the Jones County Sheriff’s Office impound lot for forfeiture. Once Mike Adams had the vehicle, I followed them to the Jones County Sheriff’s Office impound lot, where the vehicle was then secured until forfeiture paperwork could be completed. Once the vehicle was secured, I locked the gated to the impound lot and then went back into service.

Alexis Evans received citations for speeding, reckless driving, and racing on highways. Alexis also received warrants for possession of marijuana less than one ounce, possession of drug related objects, possession of a schedule I controlled substance, and possession of methamphetamine. Forfeiture paperwork was filled out for the 2022 Dodge Ram and the $367.00 of U.S. currency.

All illegal items were placed into evidence and a GBI evidence submission sheet was completed for the suspected THC oil and suspected methamphetamine. Alexis was given receipts for the notice of forfeiture. My in car camera and body camera footage was uploaded to the Jones County Sheriff’s Office server.
