On 9-29-2025 I was dispatched to [3500 BLOCK] Joycliff Road Lot [REDACTED] in reference to assisting Jones County DFCS. I was advised that DFCS was attempting to check on the welfare of the children at the residence but the parent on scene was being confrontational.
I arrived on scene and made contact with [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] with DFCS. I observed three small children running around the yard with the two younger children in only a diaper. I was advised that the children had been in very dirty diapers prior to my arrival. I made contact with the mother who identified herself as Autumn Lane. Autumn was very aggitated when speaking with me and denied having attempted to block DFCS from seeing the condition of the inside of the home. After my arrival Autumn told DFCS that they could enter the home to see the current condition. While speaking with Autumn I could smell a foul odor coming from her and the children. I also observed that the children appeared to be very dirty.
I escorted DFCS as they made entry into the home and we were met with a nauseating smell. The floor of the home was covered by trash, clothing, toys and feces. Stepping into the home the floor was soft from damage and there were multiple large holes that had to be carefully navigated to walk through the home. I had noticed that the smallest child had peanut butter and jelly on his face. I observed peanut butter on a sharp kitchen knife that was laying on the backrest of the couch. The bathroom to the right of the entry door had feces smeared on the floor and on childrens toys. Moving through the house I observed that the whole home was filthy. I noted that there were three adults and four children living in this home and I could not determine a clean location for any of them to eat, sleep or use the restroom. The bathroom in the back of the home had feces smeared all over the seat. It was obvious that there had been no effort in keeping up the home or attempting to clean. The home did not appear safe for adults or children to be living in.
Autumn stated that she had been living at the home with her mother, Crystal Lane, for two months. Her defense was that she was not on the lease and she was the only one who was doing any cleaning. Looking at the condition of the home did not give any indication that anyone in the home was doing any cleaning. DFCS determined that all the children needed to be removed from the home. I determined that Autumn and Crystal were criminally neglegent regarding the children. Autumn was placed into handcuffs at the scene and transported to the Jones County LEC. Crystal turned herself in at the Jones County LEC. I obtained warrants for Autumn and Crystal for cruelty to children in the 2nd degree.
