On 05/28/2026, I deputy J. Robinson was dispatch to [4300 BLOCK] Gray Hwy in reference to cruelty to animals.
Upon arrival I made contact with [REDACTED] with animal control. She stated she got a call from the power company about an abandon dog. She advised the dog was behind the residence and it did not have any food nor water. She stated it did not have shelter an had severe bug bites on its ears. She advised the dog owner was on scene as well.
I made contact with the dog and noted the animal was very skinny and was chained to a stake. The area was covered in silted water and the dog was standing in it.
I made contact with the owner, Carlita Morgan, she stated she was disabled and could not care for the dog as she should. She stated she attempted to come by and feed the dog when she could. She stated she could not live at the residence due to its dilapidated conditions. She stated she is now living with her uncle [REDACTED] at [300 BLOCK] Pulaski St. She stated the animal has not always been in the condition it was in.
I advised she was being charged with Cruelty to Animals. I advised she could turn her self in to the Jones County LEC on 05/29/2026 at 12pm. She stated she would do so.
