On 10-17-2025 at approximately 1832 hours, I was dispatched to Piedmont Macon Hospital (350 Hospital Dr. Macon, GA 31217) in reference to a physical assault of a 17-year-old female by her boyfriend. While enroute dispatch advised, the assault occurred at [500 BLOCK] Henderson Rd.
On scene, I made contact with hospital security who escorted me to see the victim and her mother [WITNESS #1]. There, I observed a small framed white female, who was later identified as [VICTIM #1], sitting in the room chair and covered in bruises. The bruises ranged in sizes and stages of healing. They were located from her face to her ankles.
She stated that her boyfriend James “Ben” Dupree had assaulted her. While speaking with her she revealed that she was 9 weeks pregnant. I asked if Dupree knew she was pregnant at the time of the assault. She advised that she did. [WITNESS #1] even indicated that Dupree was excited when [VICTIM #1] became pregnant. However, the excitement for [VICTIM #1] became short lived, when Dupree refused to have her seen by a male OBGYN. Stating “no man, other than me, needs to be looking at you or touching you there.”
While speaking with [VICTIM #1] it was revealed that the assault had occurred from approximately 2300 hours the previous night to 1100 hours this date. It occurred both indoors and outdoors. Dupree, not only hit her but, also kicked her, tossed her, dragged her, and threw items at her. [VICTIM #1] also advised that he choked her to the point of her vision going black and seeing stars. As well as jabbed a handgun to the side of her face stating “I could kill you right now.”
While she spoke about the assault, she would state that she thought she was going to die. [VICTIM #1] advised that Dupree struck her in the stomach, while doing so she raised her shirt to reveals a large sized fresh bruise on the left side of her abdomen. She also explained other abuse that had occurred over the three weeks she lived there. He poured food sauce on her clothes and dared her to wash them. She advised that prior to coming to the hospital she had been wearing the same clothes for four days.
[VICTIM #1] advised that in the past he has told her “I shouldn’t have to hit you to make you listen to me.” He also would not allow her to contact her parents. Convincing her that her mother hated her and telling her that she could not have her dad’s number saved to her phone. Stating since he was not allowed to have other girl’s numbers in his phone, she was not allowed to have any other boy’s numbers. She later explained that after she was assaulted outside Dupree’s grandmother gave her a ride to a family member’s house. [VICTIM #1] expressed concern about filing charges, stating that he would get a bond and come after her. [WITNESS #1] advised that in the past Dupree has threatened to shoot up her house. I advised [VICTIM #1] that I would do everything in power to send Dupree to prison and he should not get a bond for a while if at all.
Based on the statements made by [VICTIM #1] and her injuries, I obtained arrest warrants for two counts of Aggravated Assault (FV) and Battery of a Pregnant Female.
After obtaining arrest warrants it was revealed Dupree had been arrested by Twiggs Co. S.O. on unrelated felony charges, and was incarcerated at their jail.
Photographs of [VICTIM #1] and her injuries were taken.
James Benjamin Dupree was booked into the Jones County LEC on 10/21/2025.
