An assault was reported by a nurse at the Piedmont Northside ER. She stated that [VICTIM #1] arrived with a laceration to his hand. He stated that he was assaulted with a machete, in a vehicle, in the area of the “Saw Mill Quarters” in Jones Co. Upon my arrival to the Emergency Room, I made contact with the nurse. She stated that [VICTIM #1] had an injury to his hand that was consistent with a defensive wound.
After speaking with the nurse, I made contact with [VICTIM #1]. He revealed that he was assaulted by a “Tae” subject. “Tae” was the son of [WITNESS #1], who he had caused to go blind in one eye during a previous altercation from 06-24-2022 (2206-07173). He stated that after leaving work he and a friend went to hang out in the Saw Mill Quarters for “[REDACTED]’s” birthday. While there he saw [WITNESS #1] apologized to him for causing his injury. [WITNESS #1] refused to accept the apology. [VICTIM #1] stated that they stayed away from each other, but [WITNESS #1] kept mean mugging him.
A short time later “Tae” arrived. They then had a conversation. It was suggested that they talk in “Tae’s” vehicle. [WITNESS #2] (Tae’s girlfriend) was in the vehicle and told to get out. They both got in and “Tae” reversed quickly. [VICTIM #1] stated that “Tae” was known to carry a gun. He saw him reach for something. He heard a “shing” when he looked he saw a black machete in “Tae’s” hand. [VICTIM #1] then raised his arm to block when “Tae” started to swing the weapon. This resulted in his left hand being cut. He then pushed “Tae” into the window and jumped out of the vehicle. He then fled to a friend’s house and later came to the hospital.
After speaking with [VICTIM #1] I photographed his injuries and began the investigation. The investigation revealed “Tae” to be Jontevious Farlar. Farlar admitted to a family member that He and [VICTIM #1] were in a vehicle together. However, he stated that [VICTIM #1] grabbed for the machete and he pulled it out of his hand, which resulted in him being cut. I left a case card with the family member. As a result, Farlar made contact with me at the Jones Co. S.O. on 04-25-2024 at approximately 0815 hours. After interviewing Farlar, I placed him under arrest for Aggravated Assault. I then escorted him to the jail, where I turned him over to the jail for processing without incident.
Evidence to this case was collected and photographs were taken. Arresst warrants will be obtained upon returning to duty.
