On Saturday, July 5, 2025 I was Patrolling on Lite-N-Tie Rd. in Gray Ga. 32032 when a call came over the radio of a Domestic with Problems at C&J’s on GA. HWY 49. Witnesses stated that they saw a white male throwing a white female into a White in color truck with GA. License Plate [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and was leaving the station heading North on GA. HWY 49.

I went en-route towards that location while other deputies when towards the address listed on the registration. As I got closer to the location, one deputy stated that the vehicle is not at the address listed. Another deputy stopped a white truck that matched the prescription that was given, but it was the wrong truck.

I was on GA. HWY 49 when dispatch advised that the truck is now at PK’s 158 GA HWY 49 Macon GA. 31217. I advised that I was a couple of miles from there. I sped up and activated my emergency lights, but to keep from spooking him I did not turn on my siren. I arrived and got out from my patrol car ordering him not to get back into his truck. I saw little children around so I reached for my Taser, as I was approaching him. In that moment he reaches for the front of his shirt, I command him not to reach, keep your hands up. With his right hand he grabs an Orange and Silver pistol by the magazine well that was tucked in the front of his paints. I quickly grab it, putting it on the top of the toolbox of the truck.

I got his Driver’s License and called in the OLN and had dispatch check for felon as well. His License came back expired, and convicted felon. I placed Mark Fountain in hand cuffs in front pf him, checked for fit and double locked. I read him his rights, I advised him that he was under arrest for Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon. Mark Fountain waved his rights. I asked Mark to explain to me what was going on. He did not have much to say other than he just got [VICTIM #1] out of jail and she is in pain and that he was trying to get her medicine for her.

It was very difficult for me to hear and understand what [VICTIM #1] was saying, when Investigator Murphy arrived she was able to get a statement from [VICTIM #1].

[VICTIM #1] stated that Mark did hit her in the head, and the he held the pistol to her head and ordered her to get back in the truck. [VICTIM #1] was asked that if I charge Mark with Aggravated Assault will she testify to his actions with the gun, she stated “yes, I am tired of this stuff happening.”

To keep from towing the vehicle arrangements were made for Mark and [VICTIM #1]’s daughter to come get the vehicle and take it and [VICTIM #1] home.

I placed Mark in the rear seat area of my patrol car (22-2) and advised dispatch that I was en-route to the Jones County LEC. I gave my starting mileage, once we arrived at the LEC I advised of my ending mileage and escorted Mark to the booking area where he was turned over to the jail staff.

Mark Ken Fountain was charged with:

Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon
Felony, Possession of Firearm/knife During Commission of Crime
Felony, Kidnapping (FVA)
Felony, Aggravated Assault (FVA)
