On 05/20/2025 I was dispatched to the Texaco on Hwy 22 in reference to some sort of dispute. The complainant notified the Sheriff Office that a male subject was following her around Gray and harassing her and was now beating on her windows.

Before arrival the complainant had left the Texaco and was headed back toward Gray. Lt. Carr located the complainant and suspected male in the parking lot of the Gray Motel.

I arrived shortly after Lt. Carr made contact with them. The male subject was very irate and cursing at the female complainant about getting his son from her.

The female complainant was identified as [VICTIM #1]. The male subject was identified as Rashad Smith.

[VICTIM #1] advised that she and Smith have children together and that he had come from Columbus, Ga today for graduation and had become irate with her about getting his son. Smith told [VICTIM #1] that he was going to take his son and leave back to Columbus and not return their son to her.

[VICTIM #1] became afraid of Smiths actions and left the school and was attempting to return home to Altman Rd. [VICTIM #1] stated that Smith followed her all over Gray. [VICTIM #1] stated that she had attempted to loose Smith by driving around Gray and he was still able to find her.

[VICTIM #1] stated that she ended up at the Texaco on Hwy 22 and this is the point in which Smith found her again and walked up to her car yelling at her and beating on the driver side window.

[VICTIM #1] had both of her small children in the vehicle that witnessed this event with Smith.

Smith continued to be irate while attempting to talk with [VICTIM #1] on scene.

[VICTIM #1] provided video footage of Smith yelling at her and beating on her driver window at the Texaco. Video Footage will be sent to the JCSO Server.

Smith was placed in handcuffs,, double locked and checked for fit. He was placed in Officer Joiner’s patrol vehicle. He was transported to the Jones Co LEC fro booking.

Smith will be issued a warrant for Simple Assault- FV, Cruelty to Children in the 3rd Degree, and Disorderly Conduct.
