On August 9, 2026 I (Deputy Hightower 128) was dispatched to Old HWY 41 at Skyler Rd. in reference to a woman walking in the roadway. When I arrived on scene I witnessed a woman in the roadway walking south bound on Old HWY 41 heading towards Skyler Rd.
When I made contact with the woman she identified herself as Martin, Erica and stated that she was just trying to go home to [100 BLOCK] Yancey Rd. Ms. Martin appeared to be intoxicated stumbling as she walked and unable to stand up straight without assistance. When asked where she was coming from Ms. Martin stated that she was coming from her home on Yancey Rd. and she wanted to go back home.
I then noticed Ms. Martin holding a clear baggy of white pills later identifies as Gabapentin and blood on her right foot. Ms. Martin stated that the Gabapentin was given to her by the medical staff at the Lamar County Detention Center from when she was released three days ago. Ms. Martin went on to state that she was not aware of the blood on her foot and that she did not know what caused her injury. I requested assistance and for EMS to examine Ms. Martins foot.
Deputy Holt 124 would then arrive on scene where Ms. Martin would tell him that she was released from the Detention Center on Friday and her grandmother had given her the Gabapentin. Deputy Holt checked with dispatch and confirm that she had a criminal trespass order from [100 BLOCK] Yancey Rd. I would then place Ms. Martin in handcuffs, fitting and double locking the cuffs, placing her under arrest for disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, and drugs not in original container. EMS would then arrive to examine Ms. Martin foot stating the blood was coming from a small cut on her toe.
After Ms. Martin was cleared by EMS Deputy Holt would go to [100 BLOCK] Yancey Rd. to speak with Ms. Martins grandmother where she would tell Deputy Holt that the Gabapentin belonged to her and that she gave Ms. Martin half of one unaware she took the rest with her. I transported Ms. Martin to the Lamar County Detention Center where she was turned over to the custody of the jail staff.
