On 05/202/2026 at approximately 0627 hours I Sergeant Maria Gebelein responded urgent to [REDACTED] in reference to a physical domestic (Aggravated Assault, Battery, Simple Battery, Child Cruelty 3rd Degree.)
Lamar County Dispatch received a call from Victim [VICTIM #1] who reported that the Offender Kristopher Kellum was at his residence at [REDACTED] screaming and throwing things around while his girlfriend/Victim [VICTIM #2], along with several children in the house. Mr [VICTIM #1] was not at the residence at the time but was calling on behalf of Ms [VICTIM #2].
While en route Dispatch notified Law Enforcement that Mr Kellum had a machete’ and a yard tool in his hands and was not afraid of Police. Officer Chavez was first to arrive on scene and was advised by Ms [VICTIM #2] that Mr Kellum had run out of the back door when he saw Law Enforcement arriving. Myself, Officer Heintz, Officer Chavez and Deputy Mason checked the area behind and around the residence but did not locate Mr [VICTIM #2]. Myself and Officer Chavez cleared the residence and noticed several young children in bedrooms sleeping, one infant was sleeping in a crib in the bedroom of Mr [VICTIM #1] and Ms [VICTIM #2].
I then made contact with Ms [VICTIM #2] and Juvenile Victim [VICTIM #3] on the front steps of the residence to ask their account of what had happened. Ms [VICTIM #2] stated that Mr Kellum had been up drinking all night, Ms [VICTIM #2] said that Mr Kellum began to attack Mr [VICTIM #1] and punched him several times about the chest and ribs. Ms [VICTIM #2] said Mr [VICTIM #1] left to avoid further attacks. Ms [VICTIM #2] said that Mr Kellum then came into her bedroom screaming at her and grabbed her by the arm to get out of bed. Ms [VICTIM #2] said that he continued to yell and threaten to beat everyone’s a*s. Ms [VICTIM #3]/ Juvenile who also witnessed [Mr] Kellum assaulting and verbally threatening everyone said that Mr Kellum has been up for the last two days and nights and would say things like the tree is an alien and there was a flashlight in the tree and something about cutting his own head off and then putting it back on. I also talked with Mr [VICTIM #1] via Ms [VICTIM #2] cell phone.
Mr [VICTIM #1] stated that Mr Kellum is his biological Father and that Mr Kellum was in State prison in Mississippi for 12 years and that a month ago Mr [VICTIM #1] was released from serving 7 years in Federal prison in Mississippi. Mr [VICTIM #1] said that he agreed to let Mr Kellum move in with them at [REDACTED] and a courtesy relocation order for Probation was issued to Georgia.
Mr [VICTIM #1] said that early this morning Mr Kellum woke him up screaming and threatening him, Mr [VICTIM #1] said that Mr Kellum punched him 2 to 3 times in his chest and ribs and then with both hands grabbed Mr [VICTIM #1] around the neck and through him up against the wall. Mr [VICTIM #1] said he left to avoid anymore assault against him. While I was gathering information Ms [VICTIM #2] had walked into the her residence for a brief moment and then came back out and said that Mr Kellum is back in the house.
Officer Heintz went around to the back door to secure it while Myself and Officer Chavez entered through the front door. Mr Kellum was given commands to come out with his hands up of which he did, he was commanded to turn around and walk backwards towards us and place his hands behind his back of which he did.
I placed handcuffs on Mr Kellums wrist behind his back and doublelocked them, Mr Kellum was searched for any contraband or weapons and escorted to Officer Chavez patrol unit and placed in the back seat and seatbelted in. Officer Chavez transported Mr Kellum to Lamar County Detention and turned over to Detention Personnel.
I then obtained warrants for Mr Kelllum, charges are as follows:
Misdemeanor, Simple Battery, Warrant #28462
Misdemeanor, Battery, Warrant #28463
Misdemeanor, Cruelty to Children 3rd Degree, Warrant #28464
Felony, Aggravated Assault, Warrants # 28465
[End of Narrative]
