I Deputy Knight, was flagged down by the caller [VICTIM #1] at Highway 199 and Fulghum Road. [VICTIM #1] advised that she left the residence because she felt unsafe. [VICTIM #1] stated that both she and Jacob Couey were drinking before the incident. She stated they were both going to bed, and she asked Couey about a female he was friends with on Facebook. She stated that Couey then became irate, cussing at her.

She then said that Couey grabbed her by her neck, where she couldn’t breathe, and hit her. She advised that he hit her multiple times and threw her to the ground. [VICTIM #1] had marks on her neck where it looked as if she had been grabbed by someone. She also had redness on her elbows and knees from where she was thrown on the ground. She also had a bruise on her left arm. She advised the bruise was from Couey a couple of days ago. [VICTIM #1] advised that she did want to press charges and gave permission, along with the key to enter the residence.

I then attempted to make contact with Couey. I knocked on the front door, and it opened from being unlatched. I was met after making entrance into the residence by Couey. I asked him what was going on tonight, which he replied with nothing. I then told him we had a call that said otherwise. He responded with, I bet you did, can I just put clothes on before you take me to jail.

I then tried asking him again for his side of the story, and he responded with, “Does it matter? Y’all are just going to believe that bit*h anyway.” Couey was placed in cuffs, double locked, and placed into the back of my patrol car. Couey was transported to the Laurens County Detention Center with no further issues.

I will be obtaining warrants for Aggravated Assault Family Violence (OCGA 16-5-21).
