On Saturday, March 26, 2022 at approximately 0900 hours, I was patrolling Ga Hwy 38, in the area of The Liberty County Community Complex when I observed a White Ford Fusion driving east in the area of Bacontown Rd. I conducted a check on the vehicle’s tag (GA/[REDACTED]) on my mobile data terminal (MDT) through GCIC. My MDT alerted the vehicle owner’s license was suspended. I got a look at the driver and it appeared to be the registered owner, from the photo generated by my MDT.

I followed and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle using my emergency equipment. The vehicle pulled over in the parking lot of Mr Pizza restaurant.

I explained to the driver why I stopped her and asked for her information. The driver stated she didn’t have her license on her, but provided a Georgia ID and I identified her as Ms Aijhia Smith the registered owner. Lt Barnes (928) arrived on scene to assist.

I went back to my vehicle and ran her license number through Central Dispatch and it showed Ms. Smith had a suspended license reference FTA. Ms. Smith also had a warrant out of Richmond County Georgia, however they did not want to place a hold on her.

I walked back to Ms. Smith’s vehicle and asked her to step out. Ms. Smith had an infant child in the vehicle which was turned over to Ms [REDACTED] who arrived on scene.

I placed Ms Smith under arrest for driving on suspended license. I placed Smith in double locked handcuffs that were checked for fit.

Ms Smith was searched and escorted to the back of my patrol vehicle. Ms [REDACTED] also took possession of the vehicle as well as Ms Smith’s Purse. I transported Ms Smith to the Liberty County Jail where she was turned over to the jail staff without incident.

I issued Smith a citation for driving on suspended license.

My patrol vehicle rear passenger compartment was search before shift with no contraband being found.

Prior to leaving the jail, I searched the rear passenger compartment of my vehicle with no contraband being found.

My Body Worn Camera was active during this encounter.
