On 05/02/26 at approximately 2148 hours, I was traveling westbound on E Oglethorpe Hwy when I observed a grey Kia sedan accelerate quickly from a parking stall at Studio 6 Suites (738 E Oglethorpe Hwy). The vehicle drove straight going over the sidewalk and curb before dropping onto E Oglethorpe Hwy turning left. I had to apply my breaks to avoid a collision, and conducted a traffic stop using my emergency equipment (blue lights and siren). As I positioned my patrol vehicle behind the offender’s vehicle, I observed a North Carolina registration of [REDACTED]. The driver stopped the vehicle blocking the driveway to JJ’s bar and grill (726 E Oglethorpe Hwy).

I made contact with the driver and advised him the reason for the stop. The driver stated he was just trying to get home on post. I requested his license and noticed he was struggling to locate in his wallet. The driver provided a Maryland driver’s license identifying him as Ali Jordan.

I advised Mr. Jordan to pull his vehicle into the driveway of JJ’s to avoid an accident. After pulling into JJ’s parking lot, I made contact with Mr. Jordan and asked him why he drove out of the parking lot of Studio 6 Suites the way he did. Mr. Jordan stated he was trying to get away from a woman who was beating him at the hotel and he was just trying to go home.

I could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Mr. Jordan’s breath as he spoke with me, and I noticed his eyes were glossy. I asked Mr. Jordan if he had anything to drink tonight and he stated he had a few drinks about 2 hours ago with the female he was trying to get away from.

I asked Mr. Jordan if he would be willing to submit to field sobriety testing to see if he was sober to drive home. Mr. Jordan said: “I’m already drunk, I wouldn’t pass it”. I told Mr. Jordan to step out of the car, but he would not comply. I told Mr. Jordan several times to step out of the vehicle as I attempted to open the driver’s door but it was locked. I requested central dispatch to have another unit en route to my location.

Ofc Figueroa (142) and Lt Greer (172) arrived on scene. I told Mr. Jordan to step out of the vehicle and he complied after he observed additional officers on scene. As Mr. Jordan exited the vehicle, I placed him under arrest for DUI. The arrest consisted of the suspect being placed in handcuffs which were double locked and checked for fit.

Mr. Jordan was searched incident to arrest and placed in the back seat of my patrol vehicle where he was seat belted for transport. I read Mr. Jordan the implied consent notice for subjects aged 21 and over and requested a breath sample but Mr. Jordan refused. I then reread the implied consent notice and requested a blood sample which he also refused.

Liberty Towing II arrived on scene and took possession of Mr. Jordan’s vehicle. I transported Mr. Jordan to the Liberty County Jail where he was released to jail staff without further incident. I issued Mr. Jordan citations for reckless driving ($940.00), and DUI refusal ($1,995.00). Mr. Jordan refused to sign the DUI citation. I served Mr. Jordan with a DDS-1205 form for license suspension.
