On Saturday, December 18, 2021 at approximately 1830 hours, I was dispatched to [1300 BLOCK] 196W Lot [REDACTED] in reference to a domestic that occurred. I arrived and spoke with Ms. [VICTIM #1]. She explained her boyfriend of about 6 years, Mr. Andre Hills and her, got into an altercation. She explained they had been arguing for days about issues they were having. She stated Mr. Hills just drove off in his truck before I arrived. She stated they both been drinking alcohol.
Today, Mr. Hills took a plate of food Ms. [VICTIM #1] made, and took it outside to his boss who stopped by. Ms. [VICTIM #1] was a little upset because she did not cook for him. Ms. [VICTIM #1] told Mr. Hills’ boss, Mr. Hills was gambling his money away instead of paying bills. Mr. Hills got upset at this and turned to Ms. [VICTIM #1] and grabbed his hands around her neck, and shoved her from the door. Her wig fell off her head when this happened. Ms. [VICTIM #1] told Mr. Hills she was going to call the police and Mr. Hills left. I observed no markings.
I spoke with Mr. [WITNESS #1] who was inside the house when the incident occurred. He stated Mr. Hills got upset Ms. [VICTIM #1] told his boss he was gambling money instead of paying bills. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated Mr. Hills got upset and grabbed Ms. [VICTIM #1] by the throat and shoved her. He stated it appeared as he was choking her for a moment before shoving her.
While giving Ms. [VICTIM #1] a victim pamphlet with a case number, Mr. Hills came walking up to the house from down the street. He explained he just dropped his truck off at his sisters. Mr. Hills stated him and Ms. [VICTIM #1] were arguing about bills and other things. She got mad with him for giving his boss a plate of food. He stated they began to argue when his boss left, and Ms. [VICTIM #1] told him to get out the house. Mr. Hills stated he never touched Ms. [VICTIM #1], but did stated he “touched her hair” causing it to fall off.
I placed Mr. Hills under arrest for simple battery FVA. I placed him in double-locked handcuffs and checked them for fit. Mr. Hills was searched finding no contraband. I explained to Mr. Hills I could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person. I explained I could charge him for DUI as well since he admitted he just drove as well, but that issue will be left alone for now.
Mr. Hills was seated in the rear of my patrol vehicle. My rear seat of my patrol vehicle was searched for contraband at the start of shift finding no contraband. After transport my vehicle was searched again finding no contraband. I transported Mr. Hills to the Liberty County Jail without incident. My body worn camera was activated for this incident. Nothing further at this time.
