On 11/08/2025 while directing traffic (with my emergency lights activated) on a traffic collision at EG Miles Parkway and Arlington Drive, I observed a green Dodge Challenger traveling westbound. While approaching my location I began to signal the vehicle around the crash. The vehicle then stopped in the number 1 lane and performed a u-turn. After performing the u- turn the Dodge Challenger continued his turn too far, causing him to drive into the westbound number 1 lane, striking a vehicle that was behind him prior to the u-turn. I then observed the vehicle continue to drive eastbound after striking the vehicle.
I entered my patrol car and activated my siren and performed a traffic stop on the Challenger. I approached the vehicle and announced myself and asked the driver for his drivers license. After handing me a large folder, the driver then provided his license and I identified him as Brian Hansen. I asked Hansen if he was aware that he made contact with another vehicle and he stated yes. I asked Hansen how much he had to drink and he stated he was coming from World of Beer and that he was intoxicated While talking to Hansen I observed bloodshot and watery eyes. Hansen also had a very strong odor commonly associated with an alcoholic beverage coming from his person.
I requested Hansen to step out of the vehicle and upon Hansen exiting I observed him to be unsteady on his feet and not able to keep his balance. I asked Hansen if he would participate in standardized field sobriety testing and he refused.
I then requested Hansen to provide a breath sample in my portable breath tester and he agreed. I was unable to gather a breath sample due to insufficient flow (Hansen not blowing as instructed).
Hansen was placed under arrest for DUI and Hit and Run and placed into double locked handcuffs which were checked for fit. Hansen was read the Georgia Implied Consent Notice for suspects over the age of 21 from my green card. He agreed to the requested blood testing but later refused.
Hansen was searched incident to arrest before being placed into the rear seat of Dep Timperio’s patrol vehicle.
Dep Timperio transported Hansen to the Liberty County Jail where he was released to booking staff without incident.
Hansen’s wife [REDACTED BY AGENCY] arrived on-scene and took possession of the vehicle.
[End of Narrative]
