On March 17, 2022 approximately 2001 hrs I was sitting stationary on Leroy Coffer Hwy in the area of Ricks Tree Service conducting speed detection operations. I observed a White Chevy Malibu (GA Tag [REDACTED]) traveling westbound at what appeared to be a high rate of speed, verified by my Laser to be 76mph in a 55mph zone.

I initiated a traffic stop in the area of Leroy Coffer Hwy at Arcadia Dr. I explained to the driver why I stopped her and asked for her information. The driver stated that she didnt have her drivers license on her and stated it was at work. I asked the driver to provide me with her name and date of birth. The female gave me the name Ms. Briana Shanice Howard with a DOB of [REDACTED].

I went back to my vehicle and ran Ms. Howard and her vehicle through Central Dispatch, GCIC and it showed Ms Howard had a suspended license and an expired tag. I walked back to Ms. Howard’s vehicle and asked her to step out. I also observed a clear plastic bag with a green leafy substance which appeared to be marijunana. I asked Ms. Howard to hand me the plastic bag that I saw in her purse and she complied. Deputies S. Martin (966) and J. Henning (967) arrived on scene and conducted a search of the vehicle which had negative results for futher contraband.

I placed Ms Howard under arrest for driving on suspended license, speeding and expired tag. I had Ms Howard destroy the marijunan that was in her possesion by stomping it out. I placed Ms Howard in double locked handcuffs that were checked for fit. Ms Howard was searched and escorted to the back of my patrol vehicle. Howard called a friend ([REDACTED]) who took possession of the vehicle. I transported Ms Howard to the Liberty County Jail where she was turned over to the jail staff without incident. She was issued citations for Speeding , Suspended License and expired tag. I also issued an Georgia Dept of Drivers Services Form 1150.

My patrol vehicle rear passenger compartment was search before shift with no contraband being found.

Prior to leaving the jail, I searched the rear passenger compartment of my vehicle with no contraband being found.

This traffic stop was on Recorded Audio/ Video
