On 02/08/2026 at approximately 0224 hours I was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] Deann Dr in reference to a domestic, the complainant advised he was bleeding all over the place from fighting with his wife and would like a welfare check on himself. The male stated this occured ten minutes ago and his wife left the scene.

Upon arrival I spoke with Mr Earl Coolman who stated he just got back home from the “Legion” and his wife, Mrs [REDACTED BY AGENCY] had, “gone nuts” on him. Mr Coolman stated they started arguing around 1400 hours, so he decided to leave. He stated he went to the store and was gone long enough to let them both cool down. He stated when he returned to the house, he put the bags of chips he bought her, on the bed. She got out of the shower, saw them sitting on the bed then threw them on the floor and started yelling at him again. Mr Coolman stated he decided he needed to leave again and went to the Legion.

When he returned home for the third time, he sat down on the couch, and she started yelling at him saying he does not pay her attention or love her. He stated he went into the garage where she followed him yelling. Mr Coolman stated she threw somethings at him but could not remember what they were. He grabbed her and they fell to the ground. He stated she got up and went into the house to the back bedroom and locked the door. He followed her and began pounding on the door telling her she needed to get out of the house. He stated Mrs [VICTIM #1] exited the bedroom after several minutes, went back to the garage, broke several beer bottles on the ground then left the residence.

Mr Coolman stated he had a security system that records in the living room, garage, and driveway; he advised us to look at it. I observed blood from a cut on Mr Coolman’s left cheek area, the top of his head was cut and had dried blood, his left hand and his right foot. When I asked him about his injuries, he stated he was on a blood thinner medication and they were from tussling on the ground with Mrs [VICTIM #1] but was unaware of the injury to his head.

I also observed blood on the ground in the garage, all through the house, and on the front porch area which came from walking around on his foot were also bleeding. Images will be attached to the media section of this report. It was observed during speaking with Mr Coolman that he was heavily intoxicated and was unable to recall a majority of the incident. EMS was called to the scene to assess his injuries.

Upon reviewing the security footage, at 0145 hours Mrs [VICTIM #1] was observed returning home. She entered the residence and walked into the garage where Mr Coolman was sitting in a chair. She stepped out of view of the camera at the bottom right of the screen and he remained sitting in the chair. After a moment, a box like object, flew into view from the bottom right of the screen and hit him on the chest. He stood up, picked up the item and threw it back in her direction and began yelling at her.

Another object, later identified as a metal mug, flew from the bottom of the screen and struck Mr Coolman in the head. He was then seen stepping out of view of the camera towards Mrs [VICTIM #1]. In the next video segment, both parties were on the ground, Mr Coolman was on top of her and he was slamming an object onto the ground near her legs, it did not appear to strike her.

Mrs [VICTIM #1] was lying on her side striking him in the side with her fists. He grabbed her and pushed her onto her back and got on top of her. Mr Coolman put his hands around her neck and appeared to choke her. She kicked him off her and he fell backwards into a chair. She sat up and put her hands up, trying to protect her face. He got up and was standing over her yelling.

Mr Coolman then got on top of her again, pushing her to the ground and began moving in a thrusting motion, in what appeared to be hitting her head onto the concrete ground. He got up; stood over her while she was still lying on the ground and yelled at her. As Mrs [VICTIM #1] was trying to stand up he pushed her back causing her to fall to the ground face first. He picked her up, one hand on the back of her neck and the other on the front and tried to shove her to the ground. She eventually stood up and walked into the residence.

I asked Mr Coolman if he put his hands on her at any point during the argument, he stated he only did to help her up. I asked him if at any point he choked her, he said “was I a little aggressive, probably, but she got what was coming.” I asked him again if he put his hands on her at any point other than to help her up and he said he probably did. I informed him that I would need to speak with Mrs [VICTIM #1] regarding this and if I had any more questions, I would return. I provided a victim’s rights pamphlet, the case number and instructions on how to obtain a copy of this report.

I spoke with Mrs [VICTIM #1] via phone and she agreed to speak with me. She stated she would meet me at the hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital, I met with Mrs [VICTIM #1]. She stated Mr Coolman suffers from early onset alzheimer’s and this is not the first time this has happened. She stated the incident started around 1500 hours, they were arguing over nothing and then he started blaming her. She stated she was in the corner of the garage, and they went back and forth verbally. He jumped up and ran towards her and smashed her head into a nearby freezer. She tried to get away from him and tripped over a chair and fell on the ground; he got on top of her and began choking her.

She stated she was able to kick him off her and he fell back. He stood up and began yelling at her. She stated he picked her up by the back of the neck, pushed her to the ground and began slamming her head onto the concrete floor. She was able to get up and go to the back bedroom and locked the door. He followed her to the room and began banging on the door yelling at her. She opened the door and he entered the room, put his hand on her throat, put her other arm behind her back and began choking her again. I asked her if she was able to breathe or lost consciousness at any time while he was choking her, she stated “it was hard to breath and I almost passed out.” She stated she felt faint but never lost consciousness.

I asked her what she threw at him in the garage and she stated it was, a box light object, that plugs in. She stated he was yelling at her to get out, and she threw a cup at him. That is when he started going towards her, choked her and smashed her head into the freezer. Mrs [VICTIM #1] complained of her throat area, back of her neck, back of her head, left side of her face, and right thigh area hurting. I did not observe any visible injuries.

I provided Mrs [VICTIM #1] with a victim’s rights pamphlet, the case number, instructions on how to obtain a copy of this report and instructions on how to obtain a temporary protection order.

I returned to [100 BLOCK] Deann Dr to speak with Mr Coolman again. I informed him that Mrs [VICTIM #1] stated he choked her and slammed her head into the ground. He stated he did not do that. I also asked him what happened in the back bedroom. He said he was banging on the door and telling her to get out of the house. I asked him if he entered the back bedroom and choked her, he stated he did not.

I again asked him, if at any point during this incident did he choke or smash her head into the freezer, he said no. I advised him that in his prior statement he said he probably did choke her and he was a little too aggressive with her. I also informed him the video footage he provided showed this. At that point I advised Mr Coolman to stand up and put his hands behind his back he was being arrested for Aggravated Assault-FVA. I allowed him to put shoes and socks on prior to placing him in handcuffs. As I was putting Mr Coolman in the patrol vehicle he told me to be careful, as he marks and bruises easily.

The arrest and transport of the suspect were conducted in accordance with department protocol. The suspect was searched incident to arrest. Handcuffs were applied, checked for proper fit, and double-locked to ensure safety. The suspect was then placed in the backseat of CPL Bethea’s patrol vehicle and secured with a seatbelt for transport. A search of the patrol vehicle was conducted both prior to and following the transport; no contraband was located.

Upon arrival at the Liberty County Jail, the suspect was released into the custody of detention staff without incident. Warrants will be applied for within the allotted time frame for Mr Coolman.
