On 05/02/26 at 2330 hrs, I was dispatched to [REDACTED] in reference to a domestic in progress. The complainant was calling from Waycross, GA requesting a welfare check on [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who was being held hostage at gunpoint. While en route to the residence, dispatched received an additional call stating a Jordan Gregory was on scene pointing a gun to someone’s head.
I arrived on scene and as I was approaching the residence, I could hear a male yelling inside the residence. As officers got closer to the residence, the front door opened and a male subject came outside. The subject who was later identified as [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was instructed to step away from the residence while officers went to investigate the potential hostage situation.
Sgt kunda #139 walked up to the open front door and located the male subject who was heard yelling. The subject (Gregory Jordan) was instructed to step out of the residence where he was patted down for weapons. Mr Jordan was instructed to step away from the residence and make contact with Cpl Davila. Due to Mr Jordan not listening to verbal commands, he was detained in handcuffs by Cpl Davila. Sgt Kunda entered the residence and determined no one was being held hostage and no one was injured.
I entered the residence and made contact with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who stated Mr Jordan was having a conversation with her child’s father [REDACTED BY AGENCY] about a gun he owned. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she was scared because Mr Jordan was intoxicated and he grabbed the gun, pulled the slide back (racking it) and making the gun loaded. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Mr Jordan then pointed the gun to his head and she told him to stop it and put it away because her children [REDACTED BY AGENCY] were in the living room listening to everything.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Mr Jordan did not stop and had a brief argument with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] where Mr Jordan pointed the gun at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] head. Ms [REDACTED] stated she told Mr Jordan to stop again while she grabbed her kids and took them to her bedroom for safety. Ms [REDACTED] stated she was scared the gun could have gone off.
I went outside and made contact outside with [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. He stated Mr Jordan was having a conversation about gun safety saying the gun was not going to go off unless he pulled the trigger. Mr [REDACTED] stated Mr Jordan racked the gun, pointed it at his own head while explaining the gun would not go off unless he pulled the trigger. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Mr Jordan then pointed the gun at him [REDACTED BY AGENCY] but never pulled the trigger. Mr [REDACTED] stated the gun was pointed at his head but he did not believe Mr Jordan would shoot him but he was scared that the gun could have gone off and he would have been shot.
I then made contact with Mr Jordan’s fiancée [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. She stated she was also in the living room when Mr Jordan was having a conversation with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] about gun safety saying the gun would not go off unless he pulled the trigger. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated Mr Jordan racked the gun, aimed it at his own head while explaining the same thing about the gun not going off unless the trigger was pulled. Ms [REDACTED] stated Mr Jordan then pointed the gun at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] while still having their discussion.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated they finally separated and Mr Jordan put the gun in their room. Ms [REDACTED] stated the gun was in the back room in the closet on the hamper. The firearm was a Smith and Wesson (sn:[REDACTED BY AGENCY]) handgun that was loaded with a [REDACTED BY AGENCY] with no bullet in the chamber. The firearm was collected and later transported to the Hinesville PD where it was placed in the evidence locker for safekeeping.
I then went over and spoke with Mr Jordan. While speaking to him his speech was slightly slurred and the odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his person. Mr Jordan stated he was trying to teach Mr [REDACTED] about gun safety and explaining that the gun would never go off unless the trigger was pulled. Mr Jordan stated he did rack the gun and aimed it at his own head. He stated he racked it again while ejecting a bullet from the chamber making the gun unloaded and aimed it at Mr [REDACTED] while still telling him about gun safety.
Based on the statements obtained during the investigation, Mr Jordan was placed under arrest for aggravated assault, cruelty to children and pointing a gun at another. The suspect was released to the custody of the Liberty County Detention staff without incident.
The arrest and transport of the suspect followed department protocol consisting of the suspect being searched, handcuffs being applied, checked for proper fit and double locked. The suspect was placed in the backseat of Cpl Davila’s patrol vehicle and was seat belted in for transport. The vehicle was searched prior to and after transport with no contraband found.
