On Friday, March 27, 2026, at approximately 2048 hours, I was dispatched to Liberty Regional Medical Center in reference to an assault.
Upon arrival, I made contact with [VICTIM #1]. Ms. [VICTIM #1] advised that her boyfriend, Jesus Garcia, struck her in the nose before leaving the residence. She stated they had been involved in a verbal argument, during which Mr. Garcia became upset and intentionally punched her in the nose one time. Ms. [VICTIM #1] did not provide additional details regarding the argument. Ms. [VICTIM #1] further stated that she was experiencing difficulty breathing as a result of the injury.
While at the hospital, I observed Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s nose to be discolored, swollen, and visibly deviated to the right, indicating a significant injury. Medical staff on scene confirmed that Ms. [VICTIM #1] sustained a broken nose. The injury appeared serious and resulted in a visible disfigurement to Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s face. Based on Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s statement, my observations, and medical confirmation, the injury is consistent with serious bodily harm and disfigurement.
I later made contact with Mr. Jesus Garcia at [2600 BLOCK] Shaw Road in reference to a verbal domestic incident on March 28, 2026, at approximately 0101 hours. Mr. Garcia matched the description of the suspect from the earlier incident at Liberty Regional Medical Center and appeared to be heavily intoxicated.
Due to a language barrier, a translator was utilized to communicate with Mr. Garcia. When asked about the earlier incident involving Ms. [VICTIM #1], he stated they had been arguing and that Ms. [VICTIM #1] attempted to prevent him from leaving. Mr. Garcia admitted that he raised his hand and struck Ms. [VICTIM #1] in the nose, causing the injury, but claimed the act was unintentional.
Based on the totality of the circumstances, including the victim’s statement, the severity of the injury, visible disfigurement, and Mr. Garcia’s admission to striking Ms. [VICTIM #1], probable cause was established to believe that Mr. Garcia committed the offense of Aggravated Battery.
Mr. Garcia was placed under arrest at approximately 0101 hours. He was placed in handcuffs, which were double-locked and checked for proper fit. Mr. Garcia was searched both prior to and after being placed in my patrol vehicle, and no contraband was found.
