On Saturday February 26th, 2022 at 1400 hrs a Bolo was put out about several vehicles racing eastbound on GA38 past Liberty County High School. I observed the vehicles matching the bolo at the intersection of GA38 and Leroy Coffer Hwy. I observed a Gray 2019 Chevrolet Camaro make a left turn onto Leroy Coffer Hwy and accelerate in a dangerous manner and spin it’s tires after making the turn. I caught up to the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at Arcadia Dr and Leroy Coffer Hwy.
I made contact with the driver J’kaelon Marquis Goldwire. After making contact with Goldwire he advised me that he knew why I was stopping him, and he admitted he accelerated extremely fast and spun his rear tires on his vehicle because he was mad at another vehicle supposedly almost hitting him. After running Goldwires Alabama drivers license it came back suspended on my MDT. I ran his license through central as well to verify the suspension and Central verified it was suspended.
I had Goldwire step out of his vehicle and explained to him the situation with his license being suspended. Goldwire stated he had some tickets but had paid all the fines on them. I advised Goldwire his license was still suspended due to points.
Deputy Coffman (950) arrived on scene at this time. I then placed Goldwire under arrest for driving with a suspended license and placed him in handcuffs and escorted him to the rear off my patrol vehicle and placed him in the back seat. I allowed Goldwire to call one of his friends to come and pick up his vehicle instead of towing it. He also called his father just to advise him what was going on. Goldwire’s friend arrived on scene and Deputy Coffman (950) made sure he had a valid license and released the vehicle with Goldwire’s permission. I then transported Goldwire to the Liberty County Jail and turned him over to booking staff.
I issued Goldwire citations for Laying drag and Driving with Suspended License 1st Offense.
I searched the back seat of my patrol car at the beginning of shift and after transporting Goldwire. There was no contraband found in the vehicle.
I placed Goldwire in handcuffs that were double locked and checked for fit before placing him in my back seat for transport.
My body Camera was active during this incident.
