I was patrolling on Ralph Quarterman Drive. I noticed the vehicle in front of me had a driver side brake light not working, the window tint on the rear side windows was excessively dark and a registration check indicated it was suspended as of 5-8-21. I made a traffic stop to investigate.
The driver was identified as Keith Massengale. He said he was aware of the brake light and purchased the car with the tint already applied to the windows. He said he was unaware of the registration being suspended.
Further investigation showed the window tint on the rear side windows checked at 4%. Mr. Massengale was stopped and cited on July 25, 2021 by officer rice for no valid registration since the registration was suspended.
Mr. Massengale contacted his mother, [REDACTED] who came to the scene and took control of his property from the vehicle. He had a firearm in the center console and he gave his mother permission to take control of it also after it was cleared by an NCIC/GCIC check. Kevin’s towing impounded the vehicle from the scene. Mr. Massengale was arrested, cited with a court date of 9-15-21 and was transported and released to the liberty county jail by Cpl. Brant.
